Skip ahead to about 1:50 in the video for the triple surgeons knot. Ignore my comments about the left hand, lol the tag end will always be correct. The trick is the moisture, when tying the knot. Hope that helps. P.S. you'll notice on that link there are a few other video's on that same subject.

Bloodknot works wonders...it can be a pain to tie though.

Today I use double uni knott ok but the floro and mono can cut the braid. ???? I've been using this for years and have never "cut the braid" with fluoro. I've landed some big fish in heavy cover using a 15lb flouro leader / 20 lb braid mainline on spinning tackle using the uni - uni knot. I agree with you. I also use the uni to uni and have caught several big fish up to 10.25lbs with a braid to fluoro leader using the uni to uni knot and never had a failure.

The only problem I have had, while experimenting with a leader, is that the Braid cuts the FLUORO. So I use a palomar knot on the Fluoro and a clinch or regular knot on the Braid. No failures yet. But if the water is not severe clear then I just stick with no leader. +1 Braid cuts the floro and I promise You if You stick one over 10 on a short line with floro leader using uni uni knot it will fail on the hookset lost three big fish last trip to Amistad and I made sure I tried My uni perfect and the braid still cut it, never again, on the the advice of My tournament partner I tried using the little p-line swivles, they work great no more breakoffs

I think it's important to note that fluoro leaders should be leader material...not just fluoro line...there is a huge difference. Fluro line is much softer and I could see it failing. I've never had a surgeon's knot failure on a fish using fluoro leader material.

I have caught bass 8-10lbs underneath boathouses that have went around the posts, ladders and ect before I got them out and I have never had that knot fail.
