Well guys, I went, a bit further upstream of the bridge, and I FOUND LOTS OF FISH!

Problem is, they WERE NOT CRAPPIE. They WERE NOT YELLOW BASS.

They were sandies!

I caught about 20 between 3:30 and 5, just chunking into current, letting it sink to bottom, and reeling it back REAL, REAL SLOW!

They hit my TriColor WhataJig, on a 1/16th oz UNPAINTED JIG HEAD.

The color combo-- red head, green body, chartreuse tail.

Of the 20 caught, about 6 were no questions asked keepers, and the others were all between 7 and 9 inches each.

Weather NOT THAT BAD. The trees blocked what little wind there was, and the sun felt quite good.

Rudy

Addendum: Talked to two guys who said the "big" crappie had been hitting well on ji/lighted bobber right at and just after sunset.

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids

I'm tying up some Crappie Candy flies on unpainted jig heads. Hopefully I'll get to field test them today.

I put Adam right on top of the crappie, but he was to slow on the sets and i guess he just wanted to practice catching yellows and small sandies on this trip. another reason he didnt catch a crappie all day was because he still has my sandals for ransom.i would like them back.....
