Brush Hawg,
Nice haul there. One other thing to maybe keep in mind. There are always those who fish with very heavy line that could move light stuff around or even pull it up.
I wonder what the Corps of Engineers uses on their piles. Those bad boys don't move.

A concrete block with one hole filled weighs approx 40#. We have found that quite adequate to hold everything down and in place.

To insure that the rebar doesn't pull out we simply bend the end about 4".

A-ight let's continue for sake of conversation......

When placing them do you just drop them off the side or lower them down with a rope. Do you leave the rope attached or has somebody come up with a way to release it from the structure and keep it from being a snag??

Sunk brush before and know how that's done but in the aspect of keeping the condo snag free, I was curious.

I use a 8' piece of 1x12 to launch mine. let them fall.

I also drop a marker with each piece to be sure they locate where I want them.

Brush,

What Ernest said is good, but let me add something.

Bend the rebar or conduit at the very top at about a 150 degree angle. Double a rope and let it down. This will ensure the condo settles straight up and down. When your ready, just let go of one end of the rope and pull it thru. Presto, you have confidence that your condo is vertical and not laying on it's side.

In this picture you can see the angle and bend of the conduit that allowed me to set this thing down vertical...

An added bonus that I hadn't planned on is the look on other boater's faces when they drive by and see a fully assembled condo ready to be dropped. I thought one guy was going to wreck his boat, he looked at us all the way out of sight. I wasn't too worried about him coming back to the spot, because from the look on his face he didn't have a clue what we were doing.

Catfishsalsa,
What is the purpose of the bucket at the top of your condo? Is it to keep your pvc from coming off the top or to make it easier to locate under the water? Clue me in.

I use 3 gallon planter buckets and fill them close to full. Once complete they average 30 - 40 lbs. For anchors I by 5" eyebolts and run them through a a short peice of 2x4 (3-4 inches.) I fill the bucket half full, drop the anchor in and top it off with concrete. Drink a beer, fill a bucket....Drink a beer, fill a bucket....Drink a beer, fill a bucket.....Brink a dreer, spill a bucket laugh laugh

Mark,

the spacers are nothing more than small diameter PVC. Works great.

Kudzo,

the bucket at the top helps the deptfinder pick up a strong solid reading...
