I have a question. I never see the Pros put scent on lures while they are fishing or even see bottles out. Do most use scents and do they apply them before tourneys?

I think there are some scents that do work. i like the anise/shad gels that don't wash off easily. I use them on my deep swimbaiting in the winter when the fish are keying on gizzard shad. I think it helps the fish key in on the bait and hold on for 3-4 reasons. Deep water, cold water, dirty/stained, presence of shad. That is how i caught my sharelunker and many others over 8 lbs in the same areas. just my opinion The SAL website says you caught your SAL on a 1oz jig. Are you saying you caught it on a swimbait? Either way, that is an awsome fish. I'd like to see more pics of her.

I prefer Yum LPT in the shad flavor myself, although I also think its justs depends on which flavor you have most confidence in. I've used several different brands and have caught plenty of fish on most.
As for the pros, I read an article the other day by Charley Hartley that said he doesn't spray individual baits, he just sprays it in the bag and let it marinate. That's what I do. If most of the pros do the same thing, it would explain why you don't see them spraying their baits on the water.

Jack's Juice Crawfish and Megastrike mixed. Put a little in all your soft plastic packages. It works very well. If I am out of Jack's juice I will use Gulp Crawfish scent and the mega strike. http://www.jacksjuice.com/baitspray.html

I like Yum. I even like that it dyes my plastics. I use it to my advantge, especially during the spawn.

NONE of them for me! I think its more location and Presentation. If your in right area at the right time with the right presentation your gonna catchem. I think some guys get to caught up in the small things like Spacific color, baits, sents, etc. If your around ACTIVE fish with the correct Presentation of lure you will catchem.

Problem is the majority of the time we are all fishing for inactive fish. Heavy fishing Pressure, Cold Fronts ect. That is when a slow presentation with a scented bait really shines.

Most of your baits now days come with sent impregnated into the bait. A couple of my favorite baits that I have confidence in High pressure areas have no sent at all. Who really knows? Im going to keep doing what im doing...seems to be working for me! Its really just all about what gives you confidence at that moment you are fishing. Good luck!

Gulp alive works pretty good on my soft plastics and even on spinnerbaits if I am fishing them slower...leaves a real nice oil trail that I believe helps, in murkey water especially.
