Sabot, if you bought it from Academy, it's a 3/8" unless it's a minnow sein. Academy does not carry 1/4" cast nets.

joeu235, Look for us on the north bank. You won't miss us, for I am sure we will have a few lights out. Our secret callsign is "TFF"... winterwang, you are most likly right. Won't be the first piece of useless fishing gear that I have bought. I will try to find it tonight and check.

Sabot, so you don't have to meet me this time at the bait place. Actually to catch minnows, the secret is to find a right spot. I'll talk to you about it while we are fishing. I will definitely bring enough bait. Wish our minnows won't be dumped into the lake like we did last time. Let's feed the minnows to the paper mouths, the right destiny.

Not sure if I will go or not...Just got in from Arkansas tonight...I have fished on full moon, when there is a very bright under water fishing light used. Check out this article: http://www.wayneswords.com/nightfish.html Moon phase is usually critical. Three or four days before or after no moon is best while three or four days before or after a full moon is usually the pits. Avoid this time if you can. Evidently there is not enough difference between full moonlight and artificial light to attract and concentrate plankton. Full moon catch is often only 5 0r 10% of no moon and one could probably catch that many without any light. Steep walled canyons can sometimes provide a few hours of fishing before moon comes up even during full moon phase. Occasionally I have done well in the full moon period in very stained water. Possibly the moonlight didnt penetrate the stained water well and the artificial light did. Or possibly I just happened to be in an area with a large concentration of stripers for whatever reason. Avoid the full moon if possible. If you cant, look for as dirty water as possible, provided depth is right. more.................

Good information RangerR! Thanks I am an angler optimist. Meaning, I love to torture myself thinking the thump will come. Some may call me thick headed but I just cant miss the opportunity to fish. I will have some experience on this topic by tomorrow. I guess there is something to be said about the old saying A bad day of fishing is better then a good day of work See ya at the lake!

RangerRob is the RESEARCH MASTER!!!!
Sabot, you go guy.....if you aren't there to catch them, you won't know if they're biting.
I have caught fish on full moon phases, but have been let down more often than nought.
We should have a cast net casting contest....I have a 7fter with a PCNT.
And I know, I haven't made it out there yet....I will. May be too busy this weekend. I had not planned to fish the night this week due to the moon phase. But, you never know. There's something about a fish thumping your jig on the end of the line that just has me. I can't help myself. I need psychological help....not to quit fishing, just to understand why I am so into it.

So....what's the day bit like out there?
Seems it would be better than the night bite on full moons. May try a Travis dock today to see what the day time bit is like before night fall. The always seem to congrgate in the shade on sunny days. They remind me of me.

Ended up with 21 for the evening. It was an amazing night of fishing It was the best evening of fishing I have had so far. The fishing calendar was right on for last night
RAM, Folks say to fish the G-lake at night for the best results. I fished it during the day and had no success. (Granted, in a winter pattern)
