Hey Carey, pissed that someone told you not to meet your clients in front of his shop then leave the car there?
That's classy man, low ball the guides who make a living there then use there property as a parking lot.
How come you only guide during major stocking?
Ever joined the LMFF?
That's great your such a great fly fishing guide...NOBODY who works in DFW FLYSHOPS has ever heard of you...I've never seen your card in a shop or talked to a shop rat that's fished with you. I've been to a lot of the area Fly Fishing events, going back years, never seen your face or heard you name. Wouldn't you want to promote yourself to the FF community.
And from a business perspective, killing fish every day, keeping multiple stringers from clients, and casting to spawners is a really poor business model for insuring long term financial stability.

I have been fishing Broken Bow since 1984, at least twice a year. I fish coastal, offshore, lakes, rivers, creeks and ponds. I pay for my fishing licenses- ALL of them, wherever I go and whatever state or country I'm in, plus gas, food & lodging. I love it when somebody puffs-up because their "married" to a particular piece of water. If you don't like the rules/laws, get them changed. Why attack somebody who is following the rules/laws. You guys should be going after the illegal anglers (size & limits) and the netters. Capitalism- if you suck at what you do and somebody does it better, you will lose business.

Tarponfly, your website says that your only interest is to put your clients on fish. i have to wonder whether you have given either your effort or money to help the people who are improving, bit by bit, the river you use to make your living? some folks are just takers--i wonder where you fall? for example, most of your pictures show evening hole. did you contribute any time, effort or money when the improvements were done--or do you just suck up the benefits? have you contributed anything to the new lost creek that will be built after the end of the year--or to the repairs that will be done to spillway creek---or to efforts to clean the pipes at the re-reg dam, so that the river will support 3-4 more miles of fishable waters--well, on behalf of us who have worked to get these things done, i really hope you make a hell of a living fishing a river that you did not have a damn thing to do with. Everybody who goes to the LMF to fish contributes to the river, they do so from the purchase of a FISHING LICENSE and a TROUT STAMP. The proceeds from those go to the Oklahoma department of wildlife to stock and maintain that fishery, so any one who legally chooses to fish there contributes. Since he isnt an Oklahoma resident he pays more than normal for his licenses as well as bringing clients from out of state who also buy licenses at a higher price. You should grow up and keep all of your negative comments to yourself, you dont own the river and just because you help maintain the fishery doesn't give you any more of a right to fish it than anyone else. If you spent more time fishing than you do bad mouthing someone on a forum you might be as successful on the river as he is. Not to mention the cabin rentals, park fees, meals at restaurants, gas from gas stations, supplies from markets etc, etc, etc that collect taxes to place back into the OK dept of wildlife etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc....man i got into a nice rhythm there. Much unlike my casting!

Ok folks, bring this back onto topic. We've already lost a couple, who's next?

My work is guiding...other people make their living keeping up fisheries and restoring the environment, both are admirable livings. In that spirit...if one where to follow the idea presumed above, in order to fish, anywhere, one would also have to be a part above restoring and keeping the fisheries and environment. So if you want to travel anywhere and fish you are not welcome if you have not done that? When would anyone be welcome to fish anywhere but where they live and if they make their living in the fisheries and environment in that community? I make a point to respect any place I fish. In the LMF I rarely ever keep fish (10 fish or less in 4 years), always pick up random trash and hook packages from the bait chunkers, and I call the wardens when I see poaching going on. Without actually being a resident of the LMF it is hard to do more than this, although I do appreciate all the work that those in that community, and those in others, do beyond that. My appreciation does not mean that I would assume myself and every other person who does not live there and work on the river, welcome to fish there. There would be no such thing as fishing if such requirements where put on all of us. I work year round to put clients on fish: trout, to crappie, to sandbass, back to crappie (yes, during the spawn), to striper, and back to trout. Occasionally, trips from each of the above even out of its prescribed season. I simply do not have room in that time to go to the LMF, and every other place I guide, and work on the fisheries and improve the environment. I am quite sure that no one else on this form can claim that they can either. Again, no one would be welcome to fish anywhere they were not actively involved in the in improving the fisheries and environment. It is an impossible standard that even the promoter of this post I doubt keeps, unless he only fishes in the LMF, or works in every environment he fishes. This suggests that I, and everyone else on this form, is not welcome in the LMF because we are not up there year round pushing boulders and coddling fish. Guess we should all stay home...good luck with that, your community survives only because out of towners. The business in this state park would die and then the funding for the support and restoration of the fisheries and environment would follow. IT ALL FALLS DOWN...

For a history lesson:
-When I was 12, I lived in Ft. Myers, FL. The first time that I went to the flats with the fly rod, I caught a 30 lb Tarpon. After that, I was hooked on flyfishing, waiting for the arial jumps of fish on every cast after a hook-up. Awsome fish! If you do your research, you will find me in the Pine Island Paper. -Front Page on a couple occations. So yes, I have caught a Tarpon or 100 in my days. Again, if you have issues, my number is 469-528-0210. Dont post on here unless you have something to say on a non-negitive level. Till the next trip up there, -Tight lines
