Well I made it to BB yesterday and found that the upper section of the LMF; Spillway Creek, Evening Hole and Zone 1 are in great condition right now. The water is perfect the fish are feeding and dry fly fishing is good! There were fish rising to small bugs in the EH and by Twin Cedars hole both.
They are running both generators right now, ~6000cfs, which means Z2 and Z3 are not fishable. I am assuming they either have fixed one generator and will work on the other later or are planning to work on both later. It is the ACOE so who knows?
Plus they are about to resume stocking today, from what I heard by way of the ODWC, so there will be more fish making it into the river. Plus they are getting ready to bring the federal mitigation fish in and that will be a large number of fish. So things are good right now.
The real question is why aren't you fishing there? The crowds are almost non-existent and the weather is perfect. I can't wait to get back!!
Good luck and get out to go fish! eric

Thanks for the update Eric. I'm heading up tomorrow afternoon. It's a family outing with the in-laws and I'd written off fishing a few weeks ago so this is excellent news. I got my new 3 wt setup in this week and can't wait to tempt some trout. Any fly recommendations?

I got my new 3 wt setup in this week and can't wait to tempt some trout. Any fly recommendations? I would look to smaller patterns right now. Light cahills and elk hair caddis in 16-18 were patterns that worked in the afternoon as it warmed and bugs started hatching. Look to small midge patterns for nymphing; pheasant tail nymphs, hare's ear nymphs and zebra midges usually produce well there. Check with either fly shop and they will have a good idea of where to start area and fly wise. Good luck and enjoy your trip. eric

Dont forget the Olive and Rust Woolly Bugger. Before sunrise and right before sundown they smash them.

I will be there for the full week of Thanksgiving including the weekend. I will see if I can meet you on the 20th or the 21st for some fishing as well.

I usually come up the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and spend the day. If you are still around maybe we can hook up and do some fishing. LMK

I stumbled across this - http://www.dfwflyfishing.com/blog.html and it looks to be the most current information on BB conditions. Finally some photographs (I am partial to pictures) that give an idea of what's up there. SD
