I already bought the super enhanced GPS puck and now use the original puck in the house here next to the computer...Once I get another transducer I will be able to see if there are any crappies under the house...

If you guys want one of these pucks you better get it now since HB will not be going forward with them...For me it was a good upgrade, much more accurate and I needed the extra puck for obsessing over my unit in the house at the computer...

The update on GPS speed is suppose to be soon like this week, the update for down imaging is January.

I believe the newer units are all coming with the 50 channel GPS which is more accurate than the current 16 channel but not quite as accurate as the enhanced puck...Also, they haven't sold as well as they had hoped...The puck does not help the GPS read your position faster it just is more accurate...GPS units whether HB or Lowrance are as much as 10 ft off which explains how you can center punch a waypoint and miss the whole pile sometimes...

The new 997C's have the 50 channel GPS...It's hell being on the bubble but patience is a virtue...All hell breaks loose in the next 60-90 days...it's a great time to be in the market for an SI...

Personally I would wait for the new 998's or the Lowrance version if you are so inclined...Unless of course you find a 997C at the appropriate price...My 997C is nothing to sneeze at...

Neither of those units have the 50 Channel GPS, they are both 16 channel...Seems like everything on Ebay is 16 channel...I would look for 50 channel if I was buying right now...The HB website shows 50 channel on the current 997C...

Your friends haven't updated their Humminbirds to use the new SwitchFire option. On max mode it's every bit as good as any lowrance. We even added a new color that matches lowrance.

Eddie from what I've learned on the SI forums the software version 4.700 which has those cool features won't be released for the 997 until January. I don't mind waiting a little for something this good by the way.
