I use my elevtric drill with a wire brush attachment to knock the rust off. Then I have an assortment of fingernail polish to protect from future rust, plus you can do some custom coloring with the fingernail polish. Walmart sells some for teens (I guess) that is clear with flakes of red. Or you can use black for a base coat, then the clear w red. You can really get creative with the different colors. I no longer use any shakey heads or other with just a plain lead head.
