Can I use the 5# rod for fish bigger than 5#? I have never caught a fish over 1# but I expect now that I'm fly fishing I will very soon start catching bigger fish, because I heard fly fishing was the most effective way to use a river.

Actually this very thing was covered in an earlier post. I think it might be your casting technique. I have two suggestions:

1. I know one of our members has a very good friend who is a casting instructor (or so he claims). I think he runs with the carpy set. They call themselves rough fish anglers...but carp look pretty smooth....weird.

2. Stand in front of your computer screen and make a few casts so that we can all critique what you're doing wrong. Please don't make the mistake of turning your ceiling fans off, that will ruin the effect that wind is having on your cast. Make sure you turn the contrast up on your monitor so we can clearly see the fly line tangle in the fan. That's vital to the long distance diagnosis.

As far as using a river, I've heard that innertubes can be key to attracting a good bikini hatch and also that hydroelectric power can be a good use for a river.

NERD!!

Did you hear it's coming back on the air?!??!?!

Fry: I guess we can do chores for a few hours.
Leela: Fry, night lasts two weeks on the moon.
Moon Farmer: Yep, drops down to minus-173.
Fry: Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Moon Farmer: First one, then the other.

That last line makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.

There was talk about Fox recasting all the voices, I guess the original cast was holding out for more money. The original cast did sign on though.

What was the topic of this thread again?

Those masts and rigging are really going to mess up your backcast, and that's to say nothing of the wenches....I mean winches.

No, No, No boys, you're getting this all wrong. You are ingnoring the physics of the sityeation. You see its a "fly rod" not a "line rod" the 5 pound means you gotta throw 5# flies! But like was mentioned before you could tape two rods together and throw 10 pound flies.
