Yeah the forum was hopping that summer, we had a bunch of new guys in the sport all at once, some of which are still around, some that aren't. I miss those days.

me too really, first started meeting everyone that year. That was also the year that I gradually got into Euro carping. Here's a funny transition pic of my first crooked rickety Frankensteined pod with my lovely mismatched set of one bass rod and one cheap carp rod.

Yeah...I used to use a pod with 3 mismatched bass/catfish rods with indicators and butt rests but no alarms and on top of that, notice the indicators are on the back and not the front lol

Jeff, those were indeed good times. You and Chad (Mr.Kleen) were the first guys that I fished Euro style with. Though like Ben, my gear was a cobbled together mis-matched mess.. Still caught fish and had good times on the banks.

We were the bad news bears of the carpers. I too had a slap together set of fishing gear but we did catch!
