Wife and I caught these and several throwbacks Sunday evening from about 5:30 to 8:30 in Meadowmere slough in 3 to 6 ft. over brush. There was another fellow there in a small kayak who had a bigger stringer caught on flyrod with minnows! Heading out to Grapevine this evening to bank-fish for crappie if anyone is interested in going. Weather might cooperate, although it's likely the fish have moved out of the shallows with the colder temps. You only have so many chances to go, though.

I bet they are still up shallow. Just have to slow down the jig a lil.

I was thinking of the north side in the Twin Coves area. I caught them the other night on the west cove of Twin Coves right by the parking area before you enter the fee camping area. I'm open, though. I'm five minutes from Marshall Creek. I'll be heading out somewhere at about 5:30pm.

Can't tell if it's me or the crappie, but I can't seem to find them in the daylight! Caught nothing but dinks until the sun went down again. As soon as it got dark, the bigger ones started hitting the black/chartreuse tube jig. Ended up with eight keepers all 18-24" below a bobber in the pitch dark. There were a few boats in the cove when I got there. They were all bass fishing and doing pretty good. The water was really calm and the drizzle never stopped.

I had rain gear, but it didn't help. Especially when I slipped on the rocks and was up to my knees before I knew it! Fish were chasing baitfish all over the place last night. I threw in the towel when a friendly beaver got a little too interested in my stringer of fish!
