I just got back sunday the 25th. the only pier thats open is at seawolf. 6 bucks to park 6 bucks per person. and its very crowded. All the rest of the piers are gone.. you can fish off of the jettys down on sea wall blvd. Fished off the one by the flagship hotel caught sand trout and drum. good luck..

Man, if Galveston would just build a jetty that went out a quarter of a mile, it would change the flow of the currents and reduce the corision of the beach - but hey, who am I, evidently not the Core of Engineers.

And, both surfing and fishing would change. Wow, could you imagine surfers and fisherman bringing more money to the island - hmmmm let me think - would this help the economy? DUH!!!!!

Went to the pier at Seawolf.. felt like killing people.( Mods- That was a joke.. hehe? )

Anyhow, I was there this past Sunday and man, it's like these people are fishing for their life and none for the sport. You can tell these people were not considerate. I had a good spot at the corner of the pier catching stuff, and as soon as I reeled in my line to put fresh bait on, a guy pops up right next to me and casts out. He was litterally sholder to shoulder with me. Weird part is, he squeezed into the space between me and my girlfriend... AND WE WERE ONLY A FOOT APART. He was a Vietnamese guy, and he had no shame in casting accross everyone's line. We told him to stop and he kept doing it. Nothing racial intended since I am vietnamese myself, so I had to tell him in Vietnamese and he still did it again.

To simplify the problem, I started cutting lines everytime I reeled one up that I knew intentionally crossed.

Yea that happens alot over there....actually anywhere you find people fishing on a pier, shore, or bank. It's really bad at seawolf cuz that's the only pier in the area that's open and really work fishing. Next time, just fish off the rocks right by the pier, i've caught a whole lot of trophy specks and smacks there.

U would think with Galveston needing people to come and buy and spend money someone would get the ball rolling on getting the piers rebuilt . BUT no the dam im here and late FEMA gumming up the works with telling people they have to rebuild the piers another 10 ft higher . GONA need an oxegen mask to fish at that highet. And thats stupid . A hurrican could knock it down even if it was 1000 ft high . [censored] bast----- ok I ll calm down .

lol. i'm vietnamese too and know exactly what your talking about. Those fools like that don't give a rats azz about anyone but themselves. That happend to me in Okaloosa peir near Destin FL. A butload of asians fishing with blood in their eyes. I asked one of them " what are you going to do with all that fish" . The reply was " Why the ff would you want to know".

Next time some viet pisses you off, just say "DU MA MAI!" smile
