i went fishin one night and set up on the bank round' Mountain Creek Lake, Grand Prairie, Tx. I know, I know, theres a ban on keeping anything from there due to extreme mercury poisoining from the naval base. I still like to pull em' out and throw em' back. But one night, i barely adjusted to the stinch when i jerked in my first catfish. it wasn't a cat, it was a beaver just a "poppin that tail" like gunfire. So i pulled it to shore and cut the line. It started off towards some catails when this gar sitting on the bank locked on to it before ole' beav could escape in the murk. i was amped! what the freak was this. when i approached w/ my light it let go of the rodent injured indeed. as it stared at me i realized it wasn't in the water and it was looking @ me like i owed it money. so then i tossed it the rest of my bait. it devoured it and the container. i took several pics w/ my phone. scared and overwhelmed i backed away to my campsite. that night i pondered if the chemicals in the lake have mutated the fish into beaver eaters. when i told my wife she demanded i go swimming in the concoction. if your still reading this, your not lisdexit. for real though there are some strange looking fish in Mountain Creek Lake.

Pics would be interesting. Got bit by a gar once while stream wading and my stringer was attached to me. Gar went for the fish and nailed me. "Ouch" was not one of the words I used.

We have on several occations doccumented beavers and nutrias in big gar stomachs. Hope this helps back your story,
Steve

PS; Those bank dwelling gar more often eat deer, hogs, and the occational crack head that wanders too close. Please dont drop your pipe near the weeds....
