The guy I bought mine from said it would do 72 (gps). I've hit 72 (gps) a couple of times just to air it out. But then again, it's only a cookiecutter boat.

late to the ramp, hehehe I think that makes up a lot of the gps best marks!
Phil you must have bought from one honest guy!!
The fastest I have ever been in a good ol fishing boat was 74.2mph in a ZX250 with a 300Yammie, two of us and fishing stuff on Texoma.
78mph in a blazer 250xs combo, my old boat on Waco.
Sure there are the idiot 300+hp, comp hull bs, no trolling motor rigs but I really think that 75Mph is really fast and I am now wondering if the cookie boys might actually lie BETTER! All those 80mph boats and us Texas boys not a one. Maybe northern water slopes down??

My 16'8" champ with a 220 excell yamaha would do 80, what's the big deal about that?
I don't think any of these cupcakes could drive it, but that just spoils a good story.

Any boat that has been driven by JWTjr will run 85 or better. Remember the 101.3 mph Allison 2003?

Hey Chris.
Wish I knew ol JMT, sounds like a righteously fast dude, lol.
Wonder what the fastest rigs in Texas really run? Think there are really 20 boats that can fish a tourney and run over 90??

WHAT DO YOU REALLY RUN??[/size] Out of boredom a couple of weeks ago I did the same thing. I just read through some owner pages and was amazed at how many 80mph GPS boats there were from big production brands. I have had maybe 2 boats out of the 12-15 I have owned that even touched 70mph on a good day. Lots of 80mph Tritons, Champions and Skeeters oout there. Heck some even have 200-225hp engines and are running that with two guys and a tournament load.

My Pro Gator V-200 with a 200 Mariner Magnum 200 will run 61 GPS. That is fast enough for me.

I have hit 72 on my gps at 5800 rpms with about 10 gals. of gas in my boat me and my wife on board and a moderate amount of gear on board. It was showing 76 on the speedometer. I run a BassCat Cougar FTD with a 225optimax. In the final edition of Bass & Walleye boats they featured this exact same hull with a 250ProXS and out of the box it ran 79.7. I really don't think they would fabricate their results and with a few modifacations these boats are well capable of going 80 plus. I know I keep my BassCat healthy by eating Skeeters. It is amazing how many 80mph boats I have passed on the way to the fishing hole. My Dad used to tell me when he was still able to go with me to the lake " Boy I don't know if you like fishin' or boat racin' better "

Ken_A here on the forum had a 20XD bullet, comp hull and a 300xs...we did 99.1mph with both of us in the boat and it was a 100 degree Texas day.

Yeah, well, I can run about 25-30 mph in 3 foot seas. On a flat day I can run all of about 45 mph WOT. You bass fishermen just aren't right in the head. There's no way on this green earth that I want to go 80+mph on the water. Me thinky y'all iz just nutz (JK)

The only reason I can think of for going fast, faster, hello Lord, is that you gotta go #2 and you too bashful to hang it over the side and it's long way back to the ramp toilets.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.... W.C.Fields
