Asking for tips is fine. I can understand that, as I ask for tips on here all the time myself.

yes, you do.....you will look at all the fish in a different way.
I started about 5 years ago and now that I am into tying flys I pay so much more attn to baits and presentation even out side of fly fishing and its made me a better angler...
I have a bass pro 5wt I will give you...(you may come to hate me for it)you can pick it up or I can ship it I am in n. dallas its beat-up and used but still catches fish. fly reels are cheap...
its yours if you want it.

I was wondering if I would get a bite on that bait - there's obviously at least one yankee on the forum tonight... Jennings Bay, Lake Minnetonka, MN - 'bout as far from Minneapolis west as Ray Hubbard is from Dallas east - home to a friend of 20 years - and he has lakefront property on Jennings Bay - only 1006 miles away, but he's always got a place for me to crash & fish...... Just heaven off his dock - I was just up there for a week - lotsa 'gills, perch & the occasional small lmb off the dock & 3 line-breakers - probably walleye......

dandabald where'd you catch those yellow perch? Yea I'd like to know that too. And CBUMP I'd like to invite you to the 4Th. annual TFF Bream Bustin' Fish Fry. It will be held at Fairfield SP next late spring or early summer 2010. It's just a bunch of us that get together and Bream fish in the morning than pig out all afternoon. Lots of good food, fun, and good folks.

I rate bream just behind crappie for table fare personally. So yes we do target bream only to fill up the freezer! If you haven't caught some 1+ pound bream from ten or more feet of water then you need to. It's a lot of fun and they do put up a fight for their weight. Another plus is that you can catch a ton of them and is a lot of fun for the kids.

Specifically, go a Google on Jennings Bay, Lake Minnetonka, MN - like Lake Ray, it's a bit maligned by the purists, but a better multi-species lake I've never seen - all the way from buttery-tasting bluegills to 53-inch muskies......
and lotsa townies on the weekends - just tearing up the shorelines - time to drink beer & throw beanbags.... & fish during the week.

Funny that Minnesota is the "land of 10,000 lakes" - but Texas has more acre-feet of water....
Lake also has carp....

I use to catch tons of Yellow Perch with Jigs when I lived in Bloomington, MN.
Never caught a Crappie on a Jig, but they love the live bait
