No, never.

Hey yall, I am a Marine Safety Enforcement Officer and I have been since 2005. I work on the water every weekend from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I think someone may have already posted this, but if you want to know what you need, go here http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/pwd_br_l2000_0001/index.phtml
As for the ticket thing if I can get out of writing a ticket I will. If a warning will get the same results why not? The biggest thing I run across is people not knowing what the buoys mean and not having a throwable PFD. When you look at the fact that it costs about $275.00 by the time you tack on court costs for a $12.00 piece of equipment, I always give them the opportunity to go get one. However if I run across the same person later on in the day and they dont have it they EARNED a ticket in my opinion.

Wish for what you want. Pray for what you need

There seems to be a lot of discussion about requirements for running lights during daylight hours. My understanding is that they ARE NOT required, unless visibility is limited by fog, rain, etc. Stop and think about it for a minute - how many jet skis are on the lake every day and none of them have running lights.

Good point. But remember, the question was about what is legal, not what you might or might not get checked for. The only reason I pointed it out is because it say's they are required. Period. Not required at night or in fog or low visability, it just says, required.
