Just like any presentation, every angler has his preference and puts his own twist on it. Vertical, horizontal, shallow and deep it will catch fish. There are guides on Fork who even use regular size hooks weights and line. Any kind of plastic you would throw on a Texas rig or Carolina rig will work. I know some guys are even dragging swimbaits with it. I personaly use a finese worm or a baby rattle snake 95% of the time with a 1/0 gammy drop shot hook. You can even use more than one hook on the line for multiple presentations.

Good luck and feel free to call or pm me if you need any assistance.

Whats the best way to rig the bait, through the nose, hook exposed, or hook through nose then bury hook in the back.

That depends on the bait and the amount of cover. Most of the standard drop shot baits are nose hooked unless you are in heavy cover. Large or thick baits like flukes are almost always nose hooked because the thicker baits can impede hook penetration unless you go with a larger hook. The standard setup requires very little hook set when you get bit. You just sweep the rod and start reeling. The drop shot hooks are needle sharp and can catch suprisingly big fish despite the small hook. However if you go with the bigger hooks say a 3/0 for a larger bait you will need to get a harder hook set.

its your choice to use tungsten or lead bps sells round drop shot weights in lead that are less money i like a 3/8oz weight 8 lb flouracarbon 1 alt mustad hook for the right bait thats an easy one match the hatch some of your local tackle stores can help you there i like a 4 inch water melon finesse worm or baby fluke bring the hook through the nose doesnt take much the fish will do the rest and spinning rods in medium action work well with light line.

The setups have been stated but I have had the best luck with zoom shakey head worms and trick worms. Just pick the color you like and put it down.

My .02 though is to experiment with the length of the tag to the weight. I was out one day not catching much, Cut off about 6 in of the tag and had my lure closer to the bottom and it greatly increased the amount of fish i was catching.

Just go try it and experiment until you find what you like the best.

Good luck
