I took a buddy out Friday. Briefly joined the boat show around the gravel pits, but left to find our own school(s). Found 'em over by the Tributes GC. Had our own private fishing for almost two solid hours before the fish left. Found smaller schools at the old dam and Twin Poles.

It's much more than fishing info. Ya'll schedule a gathering of some sort before winter and you'll be surprised at how many friends you can make. A few BBer's may even show up if someone will show us where to fish.LOL

I took the weekend OFF...I only touched the boat to wash it. I know this is going to be hard to understand, but I needed some time off from fishing...been on the lakes a lot the last 6 weeks.

All this whinning about fishing being slow - I better get back over there and show Holzer where the fish are so we can start seeing some reports again smile smile

I posted in another thread that the effect of all the boats and all the pressure the fish are getting may be the cause of the reports getting more spotty...

I didnt get on the lake this weekend (had to make lures for finny tribe) but I wonder if the population of whites/sandise is taking a hit that it can not sustain???

Is it possible that we will see less and less schools that are acres in size? or are sandies like cockroaches and nothing will impact their their numbers?

Butch, I think it's simply that in summertime the sandbass are constantly on the move & not really schooling up much. Also remember the old adage about 10% of the fishermen catching 90% of the fish ...

You'd have to ask DTA that one!

the fish are still there and so are the red idiots. as soon as a good surface run starts some a*$%e cuts through them. We were on LL a few weeks ago and happened to find a few surface areas w/o many boats and they kept going. come fall and winter wewill see the schools bunch up again.
Just wait until everyone has 3d and side scan sonar and see what happens.

I'm planning to bring my boat with me from Georgetown on Sunday.
It hasn't been on the water in over a month. Maybe I can put it on LL for a little while Sunday afternoon.

I'm in the Little Elm area...any advise on where to launch, dangers or things to look out for.

I've never been on LL so any info would be appreciated.

Well, if you head into the main lake, be cautious along the eastern side from Hackberry point down towards the 121 cut - as the lake level continues to fall, more of the underwater forest will be visible. It's the part thats still submerged & not visible that can give you headaches.

This time of year, simply look for windblown points & the fish will usually let you know they're there chasing bait to the surface.
