I heard a rumor that TPWD was going to raise the price of the combo license from $1000 to $1800 Sept 1, 2009. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

I looked for an answer but never could find anything. If this is true, then i will be finding the money to buy it.

I have heard the same thing. I dont have the money to buy one now and will not be buying it for 1800 later. After looking at the math for 1800 I dont think it is a good idea for me and im 26. They will be closing the window of potential buyers by about a decade with this move.

the only way for this to be affective is that there will probably be more increases on hunting and fishing licenses for the next five years. says that fishing licenses will raise $2 next season already.
good luck

Dang, Remember when license were only 8 bucks! Turning into a rich mans sport. yes 8 bucks was a while back but man, for a resident thats just getting to high in my opinion. If they would use the money properly and fix up tha lakes around here and stock them better it might be worth it but come on! They havent done anything to any of our lakes up here and keep raising the darn fees. I know i will pay it because fishing is what i love and a stress releiver but my grandpa would roll over at what they cost now. Guess they want in on tha money like everyone else. Gonna take an act of congress now for me to get to tha lake, Fuel being high, fee's goin up, boat reg. goin up, having good insurance. Sorry for tha rant, but this really gets in my crawl!

I bought mine last year. I wish I would have bought it back when I first considered it and they were $500. I figured I'd better go ahead and do it now or I would be wishing I had bought it way back when it was $1000!

By the way, it's really attractive if you might move out of state. I'm pretty sure it's still valid. Out-of-state hunting/fishing licences are considerably higher.

Probably gonna buy the whole family one....2 boys (5 and 6yrs old), wife and me.
Gonna be some change but its worth it I think, definatly for the boys but surely will be for us too (35 yrs old).

Bought mine when they were $800. Sure is nice not to have to find the paperwork all you do is pull out a card when TPWD checks your license. Also a Game Warden told not to worry about anything except fire extingusher because they think that if you take the time to get a lifetime license everything else will be good. That is all I have ever been checked for since I got my Lifetime.

I was under the assumption you had to still get a paper copy...take it to a retailer and they scan the card and give you a paper one??? Maybe I'm wrong?

You have to go to the retailer to get your tags for saltwater or game tags for hunting. Your card is made from plastic like a credit card and that is your license.
