Best o Luck on the carp & congrats on the buffalo, I got my first buffalo on fly rod a couple weeks ago and while it wasn't a spectacular fighter it didn't turn on its side & float in either. Take what the water will give ya is my philosophy .

I'll be around a tailrace like that in kansas for the next couple of days where I used to stalk carp with halves of nightcrawlers on light spinning gear... I'll have to go and try to ninja up on some. Them's some impressive carp you have there gentlemen! Perhaps some day I shall catch one over 20... but I doubt it.

Buffalo are weird like that. Often times they either fight like crazy, or they don't fight hard at all. Or, they roll over and let you drag them in, then go crazy as soon as they see the net.

I think it's actually a sucker family trait. Fishing up north, I caught a LOT of Redhorse Sucker, and they did the same thing. Either fought like crazy, or literally seemed to go into shock and just roll over and float.

Must be a sucker thing.

Carp on the other hand, in the minnow family, pretty much always fight like crazy and run like angry freight trains!

That it is! Though as much as I like "The Hops" I like Oskar Blue's Gorden even more. Of course, my favorite Oskar Blues beer is their Ten Fidy Imperial Stout.

Yeah, that sounds about right! Buffalo and the Sucker Family in general are really weird about that.

Not sure I am following you? I am a Texan living here, not born in OK.
