Aren't shad oily, fat fish? I would think that would help grow big fat bass.

Found the comment about a 25 pounder being caught in that lake in a net very telling ... guess we might see even more bigguns from Japan!

O.K. I was absent on the day they taught the metric system. What is the deal on the measuring stick on the Bassmaster link picture. 7.5 what? If that computes to 29" and with the hulking girth? What do we have. Is there a way to fake a photo like that?

I hope it ends up being true and breaks the record if nothing else but for the sake of throwing a wrench in things. Sure would blow the minds of all the internet fisheries biologists. Like Cam said on another post it will cast doubt on a lot of current practices.

Yeah, decimeters - tenths of a meter. The picture shows approx 0.75 meters, which is about 29.5"

Fat fat fishy! Very cool if it's real. If that lake really did produce a 25lb largemouth in a net, as per the article, I'm sure its only a matter of time until one was caught on rod and reel.

I dunno, three things to consider.

1) Lake Biwa is 259 square miles! (165,760 acres?)
2) Number of Anglers (aka fishing pressure)
3) Year of invasive legislation 2005?
