I have four or five that I broke over the years that are already in a tube ready for shipping. Just haven't taken the time to send them off. Guess I should think about doing that soon.

The GLoomis replacement policy of a replacement for only $50 no matter what happened to the rod is for a fact what prompts some folks to go with GLoomis, that and the fact that they are so light and sensitive.

Were you fishing with the rod or broke it in some other way?

If your definition of fishing includes the act of tying on a bait while the rod is placed hazardously under the lid of the bow compartment of the boat as a stiff breeze is blowing...then yes I was fishing! scared rolfmao

Like I said...totally my fault.

The one of 3 Falcon rods that I have broke over the years that was totally my fault just went into the trash....I say my fault if you consider your 300lb non boater stepping on the rod laying on the deck in the dark.

Thanks for being a stand up guy and being up front with them. I think you would both be winners if you accepted their offer of the discounted rod. It is obvious that is what Falcon was thinking when they made the discounted offer for a rod that was not broken from a defect.

Selling you a rod that you broke for half of retail price is good customer service not lousy. What is lousy is the guys here on the board who would lie about it or take it back to academy or whatever to try to get something for free that they broke. Those statements pretty well sum up what is wrong with our nation on many levels. I've had the same experience with Falcon and was please to buy at half off. I have been buying G Loomis lately and one reason is the replacement for $50. They are expensive to buy one but if it breaks and you replace it for $50 the total cost for 2 makes it reasonable.

Instead, I followed Falcon's warranty procedures on the website and mailed in my rod with $20. I've heard they pretty much always mail you back a new rod. Wrong, all I got was a letter that said since the rod was not damaged due to faulty workmanship or materials, all they could do is offer to sell me another rod for $70.

On one hand, I see their point I did break it...but I've dealt with Loomis on similar situations and they'll replace just about any broken rod for $50. I know totally different companies, apples and oranges maybe. But it's making me wonder if I want to go with another Falcon. Maybe I'm being too critical???

I do not see that as poor customer service. If I had broken a rod not setting a hook etc I would not take it back to Falcon. Shimano has a no questions asked over the counter I broke one in a box lid once, and took it back.

When comparing to Loomis. An honest loomis rep will tell you that the price of a replacement is in the original sell price.

So in that your not comparing apples to Apples.

Maybe that's why Loomis will replace their rods; you've essentially paid for insurance that costs 2X the price of the rod.

I had a recent, excellent experience with a Cara weightless worm. While out with Tom Redington on Fork, we were fishing in grass and I go to shake some off and *tink* the last 3 inches of the rod flops on down the line. I was dumbfounded and a little disappointed a rod would break so easily after two weeks...So a week later I go to academy, walmart, office depot, no-one has a (free) tube long enough to ship to Falcon, so I actually had my dad mail an empty one from Iowa so I could send it to be replaced. Well on the way to Fedex I rolled what remained of the rod up in the window...I called Falcon and explained how lucky I am (basically told them, your not going to believe this but...) and they said 'we'll take a look at it'. I labeled the orignal and subsequent breaks and shipped it. Called them a few days later and they said, we are replacing it free of charge, whats your address. And since, its all good!!

I have had 2 out of 4 of mine break and both about 6" below the tip. One was a 7' Carolina Lizard Dragger II and the other was a 7'3" Cara Reaction Deep Diver. On the C-Rig it snapped when I set the hook into a laydown. The Cara snapped when I snagged a huge turtle at Fork with a DD22. The C-rig was about 2 months old when it let go and the Cara brole on it's first trip to the lake. I still have them, both still broken, and tried to handle it by way of e-mail. I didn't feel like they were going to replace either just from the e-mails I received. And I would rather buy from a manufacturer that replaces them no questions asked. The C-rig was only $90 new....but that Cara was $180.
