Nice, Ray. You should have put him on the front porch at the Tackle Box. Travis looks a little sleepy sometimes when he shows up for work.

Hoping someone released it into there. Emailed the biologist and his response was...wonder where he came from? So out of all of the gill net surveys I take it they have not seen or caught one.
Stogie, I think he was just a freak and made for an interesting night on the water. He was caught a good distance up the river, spend alot of evenings up river and that is the first set of red eyes I have seen.

Go up the river channel after dark with a Q-beam. Their eyes will open your eyes. There are hundreds of alligators in Canyon.

Pretty sure we were in the upper Guadalupe at the point of capture, crazy huh baby wrangler? Plugerville angler, we talkinng about the same river above Canyon Lake? Imagine the shock, I have never even spoke the words Guad and gator in a sentence. The funny thing about it was that my customers were from Baytown area, gators around them, and asked not thirty minutes prior if there were alligators in that area of the Guadalupe. I acted like it was a crazy question, we pull up anchor flip the lights on, put the boat in gear, and the gator is swimming about fifteen feet in front of the boat. I asked the customer, "what is that?" he replies just as calm as can be, "its a gator". I laughed aloud again, like his crazy question earlier. After we caught the rascal I called our game warden, 3am OUCH!! He called me back about the time we made it all the way back to the marina 4am. He recommended we release it back being as how it is a native species. I dropped the customers, took pics, and drove all the way back upriver and released him in the same spot. Had the gator riding on my lap at one point during the trip (there is an even funnier story as to why I was forced to do that basically it got out of the net and was crawling up a seat headed out of the boat with the tape still on his mouth and I did not want him to be swimming around with the tape so I jumped on him and held him on my lap for the last quarter mile of the trip) very docile for the most part. Wrapped his mouth only one full wrap in order for the solo release to go smooth. That was a first for this fella and a lifetime experience. Picture is of me multi-tasking with camera after he got out of the net and was riding on my lap headed to release. 52" long measurement
