What do you think about attaching it directly to the hook shank George? Do you ever have a problem with the hook set as the spinner gets in the way?
It's more than the catfish would do.

Not a problem Derik - this fly was introduced more than 10 years ago, published in several national and one inernatonal fly fishing magazine. http://www.danblanton.com/thespinster.htmlGood luck with your spin flies - I love them. George

George, Nice flies-very well tied. I've always thought these spinner flies were bass killers. I have a recipe for one using heavy mono to tie in the small spinner at the bend of the hook. The recipe call for a dumbell eye and marabou tied in "thunder creek" style. I'll try to post up a step by step later.

I tied one on a smaller jig hook today and caught my PB greenie. The fly is done now as it got tore up by the fishes, I love these things.
It's more than the catfish would do.

If you like to make cast after cast don't use this fly. IF however you don't mind your casting session being interrupted by fighting and releasing some fish give it a try. I have caught smallmouth, largemouth, striper, blue cat and brown trout on the solid olive Spinster I tied. God Bless You, George Glazener.

Tied one up deciver style with a couple "extras" A small rattle for the eyes, and a large rattle for the abdomen, this is on a 6/0 jig hook with a willowleaf spinner blade.
It's more than the catfish would do.

I gave the beatle spin/woolly bugger hybrid a try on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to cast. It also didn't seem to add any line twist, or at least additional line twist. I saw a couple of fish strike at it and miss, so I'll definitely be trying it again.
