Spray some WD-40 on whatever you try.

Flies should work for you...nymphs are especially good. Gulp is very hit or miss for me. One thing that makes a good back-up because it is readily available, stays on the hook, and get bites...canned corn. Sometimes it helps to "chum" a little, but only very small amounts, to get them going on the corn.

I'm thinking I'll not take any worms tomorrow and try "back-up" baits only to spend my time seeing what I can get to work.....corn, gulp worms, balled bread, honey baked ham, several different flies, anything else I am forgetting right now.
Jesse, I use small pieces of worm just like you do. I usually pinch it off, but sometimes use a knife and cut it off.

If you are going to use flies try and get ahold of a beadhead prince nymph in a size 10 or 12 and just drop it down. I tear em up un the fly rod like that.
It's more than the catfish would do.

Yep, had good luck on canned corn and also on salmon eggs sometimes.

Derik, I have a couple of bead head flies, but don't know what they are. I'll make a note of the name, Bead Head Prince, and look for one the next time I'm in Academy. Thanks.
Canino, I picked up a can of whole kernel sweet corn and an ear of fresh corn this morning at the grocery store. Will try both of them tomorrow. I didn't find any Gulp worms at Academy, except the big night crawlers, so won't be trying Gulp tomorrow. I did buy a container of regular earthworms though, i.e. live bait to take along and use if none of the other stuff works. :-)

i use slugs.Slugs stay on the hook and you can cut them up using sissors. But worms are the best.I would try flies or very small sabiki rigs.

We use small gills for striper bait.
I can catch a tub full of gills with tiny bread balls or raw bacon bits on a #8 cricket hook.
We have 3 community lakes on the way to Texoma that has an abundance of bream from tiny to handsize. We stop by one of them each time we are going for stripers or need whole or cut bream for catfish.
****Sun sinking low....lines baited.....gentle south breeze blowing...you realize.........I AM! .

BH Prince is my favorite BG fly....but they work tons better with the addition of rubber legs. Very effective. Never seen them at Academy but you can order from online fly stores.

It's more than the catfish would do.

Well, I spent a little time trying gill baits today, but the bass were active so I spent most of my time catching bass. It was cloudy most of the morning and windy. Just before I cam home, I tied a tiny Beetle Spin on a UL spinning outfit to see if I could catch a gill or two down by the dam before loading the boat. Wouldn't you know it, a keeper bass took the tiny Beetle Spin and the game was on. That was the most fun I had all day, finally landed him. Inside a boat stall where I caught gills last Monday, I tried corn, ham, bread, and live worm under a cork, and a Beetle Spin Jig without the spinner (no cork). I caught a gill on the worm and caught one on the Jig, nothing on the corn, ham, or bread ball. I later caught another gill on the Jig in another boat stall. The way I was able to catch the them on the jig was to let it go all the way to the bottom, leaving it without motion part of the time. Today was a fun day, caught the three gills and about eight bass. Also lost a bass when it jumped and threw a 1/8 oz jig, and broke off a nice bass when I tried to lift it in the boat (stupid). Next trip, I want to spend time trying flies and jigs. I like that little Beetle Spin; can let it drop and fish it pretty deep.
