Suffix Siege 14lb or 17lb. Hit it with some KVDs Line and lure conditioner and you are set. I use it on my topwater rod and never lose a fish due to line failure. Tie a Palomar knot and you cannot go wrong. This line will haul those hawgs in the boat, and even a few trees!!! Very strong and durable.

I am going to be different here. I love Triple Fish camo. Started using it about 6 yrs ago on El salto and never had any problems with it. I use 20lb or 25lb test and trust it.

I bought 10 boxes of 200 yd Pline cxx when they were on sale for $2 each at WalMart, broke off four fish next time out, and ended up taking all the unopened line back. It even felt strange, almost rubbery.
Went back to 12lb Berkley Big Game moss green with line conditioner and haven't broke off "anything" since!!! For the price, you can't beat it. I even had my personal best last week on it.
Not sure about that Pline stuff, maybe just a bad batch, but you have to wonder why Wally World had so much of it on the closeout shelf for that cheap. You would think that if a company, like Pline, knows it has a bad batch of anything, it would be more beneficial to just recall and recycle, but never sell it! Now, how many people will never try Pline ever again, especially at $8 a box like at Academy. I won't give it another chance. Odd. I'm not in marketing, but it seems like bad buisness to me. Jeepthing Jeepthing, I've used pline cxx before and never had trouble. My guess is some guy found a bunch in the back of the wally world warehouse and stuck it out there to get rid of it. Instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water, I would just make sure you never buy 'bargain' line again. The only thing anyone should buy that has dust on it, is wine...not line! Hey that rhymed!

I use nothing but Berkley Big Game and P Line have used both for years. But I must admit nothing less than 17lbs when fishing for LMB. If I'm fishing FORK 20lb or 25lb. My signature fish was caught using 20lb P Line. I tie nothing but a polymar knot. When fishing for LMB I try to catch Quality not Quanity. If I want quanity of smaller fish I will fish for Sandies and then I still use Big Game or P Line 10lb to 15lb. Still tie a polymar knot.

I think the one gentleman might have had it right with the knot issue. Good friend of mine, 'ol-timer that owned a small tackle store and was an avid fisherman told me the same thing about the knot and flourocarbine line. I've used the improved clinch since I started fishing and he warned me it would break in a heart-beat. That's where I learned about the palomar. And far simpler to tie. But from what I understand it's just the flouro-lines that has that problem with the clinch knot, not mono in general.
