Great. Absolutely gorgeous, but I really do love the pines out there. They've got some decent hiking trails. I did try fishing once very briefly, but didn't catch a thing.

Fishing is very good. Water Clarity is about 4 - 6 feet. Last year a sharelunker was caught there. Worth every minute to fish there.

Great park but it will be very busy from now until after labor day. Probably will need reservations for any camping for next 3-4 months.
Come winter, you can go during the middle of the week and have the place virtually to yourself.

Have been to this park several times. Great place to visit. Never had any luck fishing from the bank. High pressured on busy days. Canoeists, kayakers, and paddle boaters always getting in the places you are casting. Never had much luck off the bank except maybe a couple of bluegills. The lunker was caught in Feb from a boat. Don't go there with the sole purpose of fishing; go to enjoy the scenery. My inlaws even had a camping reunion there a few years ago. It was fun.

Years ago I used to fish this lake from our boat and did pretty good chasing bass. Easy lake to fish. Its super clear so light line is a must.

fished there today for the first time. I fished for about 3 hours and got one bite. My line was a little heavy, wasn't expecting it to be so clear. didnt catch anything but next time i will be renting one of the jon boats from the park store.

I used to do the usual pitch and wind with perch colored cranks and pitching worms in likely spot. The best method I found on this little lake is a little boring but works like magic. We used to drift black worms on a jig head from the dam towards the swimming beach. Just sit back and relax and bounce the worm every onec in a while and then bam!! That was 20 years ago though.

I haven't been out there this year but last year we went out three times mid summer then on labor day. I never had much luck bank fishing but on the labor day outing we took my uncles jon boat. We went out just before sun up and did fairly well with top waters until about 9am then switched over to a Texas rigged worm and still managed to pull some from mid lake near the dam. I'm planning to go back out there later this year and try to introduce my brother to some early morning top water fun. He's all about cut bait fishing for catfish. I told him I don't want that slop on my new boat.
