Urban- Definitely a Nerodia. Checkered garters have a dorsal stripe, sometimes two on their sides as well, and generally will have more than two lateral rows of checkering, unlike a watersnake.
Canyon- Looks like a diamondback watersnake juvenile, definitely a watersnake (Nerodia) of some sort but hard to tell which species in that small a pic.

No flared neck so it aint a cobra. Cant see the tail, but if it had rattles it is a rattle snake. If no rattles it is a cotton mouth.
Yes I did admit defeat. Good job back to back champion

DIAMONDBACK WATER SNAKE, Nerodia rhombifer rhombifer non-venomous This is a harmless snake often confused with the venomous Western Cottonmouth because it is found close to or in the water. The snake has a greenish background with a dark diamond pattern on its back. It also have dark green squares on its side and a yellow belly. The snake is common to many of the waterways and ponds in the Austin area. The adults average 3 feet long and feed primarily on fish and frogs. These snakes are very shy and will quickly attempt to escape if startled or approached. Water is their preferred escape route and sanctuary. If the snake is caught, it will first emit a foul smelling musk. If this doesn't work it will bite, but the bite isn't venomous. When sitting still or swimming slowly, the Diamondback Water snake tends to hold it's head and neck level with the water line while allowing the body and tail to be submerged. When these snakes find a backyard goldfish pond, they tend to take up residence there and eat the fish if they are small enough. Larger fish or screening around the pond or at the fence line usually keeps these snakes from entering the yard.
Thats definitely what mine was. I knew it wasn't poisonous so i just relocated him, but it stunk somethin awful

Looks like a water snake?????? hell I dont know lol..I'm such a help From the way hed described its swimming ability, I have no doubt that it's a watersnake. The real question is: Is it a diamond back? All snakes are good swimmers.

All snakes are good swimmers.
I disagree. The one would have a hard time swimming.
