There are a lot of good points pro and con on this subject. I appreciate everyones input. As a TD and tournament promoter I have to make the right decisions for the common good of all and without asking the tough questions and getting some feedback I could easily make the wrong decisions. I will ultimately make some bad decisions along the way regardless, but with everyones help and patience we will make this trail one of the top 3 in the North Texas area. You will be seeing more poll questions over the next few weeks and I appreciate everyones votes and honest opinions. Please help me get insight into these questions by continueing to vote on these polls. And please remember that just because I poll a question does not mean that a change is upcoming, I would just like to be informed with these opinions. I believe we have attracted some of the best anglers both in quality of angling skills but also in quality of character, in that respect we are very blessed and do not want to do anything to alter that. We have great fellowship at our weighins even though our anglers are very competitive, we want to see that continue. Blessings To All: Upon reviewing the results of this poll I have found the answer I am looking for. In order to change the rules on guides I would obviously offend 40% of the anglers we have been blessed with, possibly more. I would be a fool to make a change at this point, thanks for all of the good comments and for keeping the replies to this poll civil. You guys shared opposing opinions yet kept it civil and provided info I needed to make the right decision. My next poll we will be looking at the off limits.

I'm with the group that says "It depends on who you want to fish your tournaments." I consider JCOutdoors and MediaBass the next steps for the club angler before hitting BassChamps, BASS opens or FLW. I know if I wanted to make the next step I'd hesitate entering a tournament with lake guides. I myself know a few and don't worry about fishing against them on a neutral lake. As for their home lake...I'd first like to see the guides put up some cash and take me on at my job. Having played a lot of billiards in my days I've seen the The Hustler ply his skills more than a few times. At some point JCOudoors has to ask itself "Who do we want to attract to our tournaments?" Weekend angler? Guide level angler? I consider myself a guide level angler so it's a coin toss for me. Like I said earlier, I don't worry about fishing against them on a neutral lake. On their home lake I'd be a fool not to be concerned. How do you think the Flw pros feel fishing aginst Steve clapper or joe blalog on Eire. I fish the stren series and I fish against locals and guides in every tournament, if someone is wanting to step up to the opens and strens, u need to get used to it. Granted Flw changed the rule to if they want to fish one t then they must pay for em all. That is a good option in my opinion, grantedmh opinion on what mark dose is not valid bc I guide when um not traveling fishing larger events. P lease understand I'm responding in as neutral and non-aggressive fashion as I know how while addressing the underlying issue. I mean nothing against anyone and only wish to point out how I see the issue.I never said I wanted to step it up to the FLW or Stren especially since I make better money at my chosen profession. I'm a weekend angler who fishes tournaments. If you're a guide on your home lake fishing tournaments you have an advantage over any non-local. I don't understand how there can be any doubt on that. A guide turns down a $350 weekend booking and puts up another $200 betting they'll pull a check. That's $550 plus tip on the line to enter. I don't fish the Fork Series so I have no dog in the hunt. I think the decision to keep guides is a good one. Mid-season changes are bad. Now if we can legalize jet boats. Jet boats are an unfair advantage while being a guide on the lake is not. I know guides. I like guides. A special breed. I appreciate the effort they put into their jobs finding enough fish to keep 7 days worth of bookings happy. Fish management at a level most anglers never think about. There is a reason most trails have strict rules applicable specifically to guides on their home lakes. I'll see ya at the JCOutdoors Championships.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

The 40% opposed to fishing against guides would be offended. The other 60% are either OK with it or do not really care one way or another. These polls are in preparing for the fall trails and the 2010 spring season. No changes will be made regarding the rules during the spring 2009 series. No guide rule changes will be coming in 2009 fall or 2010 spring. They will remain at 30 days of no guiding for pay prior to the event to be eligible. I will have a upcoming poll beginning on Monday about off limits for our tournaments.

Might of even been able to retire at the end of the year. -- Just kidding Seriously -- What if you offered an open (to everyone) every now and then and we will all see how it turns out, and who wins. Just an idea. Tight Lines,

Wouldn't hurt anything to try it. It would give the 60% that are ok with it an opportunity to try something that is not done, at all. (Guides fishing tournaments on Fork). I would bet that some of the 40% that oppose, don't even fish Mark's tournaments.
