I have several Powells and really like them. The Hendrix's are lighter and more sensitive and will be replacing my Powells eventually. They are built by Mike in Hurst, Tx. With the Powells you're getting a very good factory rod made in China with a nice price range. It's got good components and the workmanship is decent but it's a factory rod and you get once choice on the blank. With the Hendrix you can pick from 3 levels of blanks, the components you want, the handle style, hook hanger, etc... and get a rod designed to do exactly what you want. Or just take one of his ready made rods and it will be considerably better made than the mass produced variety.
