Haven't been out there in a while, how's it doing lately? ThirdRoc, you catch the buffs from the bank too? Have had a lot of them out there. Like to put out some corn while I'm slinging lures, hehe.
Anyone catch any smallmouth from the bank this spring?

Anyone catch any smallmouth from the bank this spring? Yeah, I usually catch a few buffalo while fishing for sandies and LMB. I also sometimes see a carp or two jumping out the water - I thought they were slow bottom sucker type fish so it suprised me, either that or maybe it was a couple giant orange/brown bass. I haven't seen any smallies since my friend caught a fingerling last year shortly after they were stocked. Last time out I had brought a ziploc bag of sweet corn to try, but it was so windy I decided to wait until next time. That reminds me, I left the bag of corn in my car...

Nope, that would definitely be carp jumping. Hehe, if you still think they're slow, wait till you hook about a 15lber and have him take off like a rocket!
If you get a chance you show through out some of that corn on a second rod while you're throwing lures, just make sure you weight your rod down with something unless you wanna lose it!
Hehe, few years back I was pretty well known for jumping into the water after carp yanked in my rods before I wised up and started securing them lol.

We caught a few bass up on the rocks at Twin Coves Park....we also saw a HUGE school of crappie on some other rocks below us....I'm not a much of a Bass fisherman so I was just using an old Rattle trap that my buddy had...you guys know any decent bank spots for Cats around that area...preferrably with a ramp close to catch shad?

Smallmouth Bass are very distinctly bronze in color, and the back of the jaw will not extend past the back of the eye when you close their mouths. I've caught 3lb, 18" bass out of there before, including one fat little football of a Spotted Bass. Nice fish either way!

maybe a smallmouth buffalo? Did it look like this guy I caught last week? (He was 11 lbs and jumped out the water 3-4 times like a dolphin does when its swims with boats. He turned back at me and spit the lure but it snagged his fin, like most of the buffalo I catch, you can see it on the bottom of his tail) Also, here a pic of a hungry sandbass that sucked down my 1/2oz Booyah double-bladed spinnerbait. They were hiting on 1/4 - 1/2oz rattletraps, and 3/8 - 1/2oz spinnerbaits. They wouldn't touch the roostertails that I caught them with last time. Both of these were from Thurs. last week that I already posted about.

I'm not very familiar with fish species, but that could possibly be a freshwater drum. Whatever it is put a smile on your face!
If I recognize your pic correctly, then I think straight out past the tree is the point where the boat ramp launches into the channel where the 2 coves meet and is supposed to be a pretty good fishing spot.
