I have a buddy in my Bass Club who is being denied a claim after knocking a hole in the bottom of his boat at Lake of the Pines. However they keep taking his monthly Premium and have just recently sent him a new renewal. We look at customer complaints for Progressive and have found many dissatisfied customers.. Anybody have any advice for him to appeal or get Progressive to step up. I'm glad I have USAA they always take care of their customers...

Hi there, I'm a Marine specialty agent and represent a number of companies with Progressive being one of them. They offer a lot of different coverage's and a lot of times when a person goes to there web site to purchase a policy they are not aware of all the different coverage's that are available.I have been doing business with them for a long time and my experiance has been they are very fair in there claims process. I will be happy to help your friend in anyway I can. Please give me a call and we can look into this. Thanks Bob Luellen 800-339-1235 www.worldwidemarineins.com

I hope you get this resolved in a way that works for him. The reason i hope so??? I use Progressive to insure my '71 model Chevy P/U. They are the only ones I found who would do an agreed value policy, and not restrict the vehicle's use in any way.

I found a number of companies to do the value policy, but they all wouldn't let me tow, or haul anything, and most wanted to restrict my mileage too.

Insurance companies, they are right up there with lawyers in my book.

Hey guys, I am a Progressive Agent, and you are right about buying a policy online with them....you need to purchase from a local independent who can explain certain coverages in depth, so at the time of loss there are no questions about coverage...I am still interested in knowing why they are denying the claim...Did you just have liability?...to be honest with you, you can ask any body shop in most towns who gets the claim checks the quickest and who pays without much hassle and I bet they will tell you Progressive....I hope everything works out, if I can contact anyone through my rep to help let me know........ www.holder-insurance.com

I have Progressive coverage. Not many claims over the past ten years on my '99 Triton, but each has been handled in a prompt professional manner, cooperating with my sevice personnel.

I originally had a local agent, but he retired, and my policy has been serviced by phone for many years now. I've asked questions about coverages, discounts, liabilities, theft, collision, etc., and always received a timely call back if the person did not immediately know the proper answer about how to write my policy. Consider this a positive response.

Thank God for Texas and the USA!!! - Ray

USAA in the past had their own insurance for boats, but now they go through Progressive.

Exactly. USAA does not handle boat insurance anymore. They have progressive write the policies for all their boat insurance now. My insurance is through USAA but with progressive.

I live at Fork as well.

Thanks,

Nathan at Fork, I'm a USAA member, and have Progressive Insurance on my boat. Do you know if it is cheaper to get the boat insurance through USAA instead of directly from Progressive.

Talk to my buddy again and Progressive change their mind and is now going to cover the claim.. He had to be persistant but they backed off the original denial.. They were supposes to dispatch a marine surveyor to look at the boat after my buddy appealed the decision but he never showed up.. He said they have 30 days to make a decision and when the surveyor did not respond, Progressive decided to pay the claim.. In the end they are stepping up but not without some aggravation.

I filed two claims with them in a 6 month period of time. One was for a totaled boat. They never questioned a thing either time, just mailed me a check.
