I have to agree the V does make a diffrence when the water get rough if that matters to you. I know I love it not gonna say it the best boat but its not a bad one that for sure. I still need to look into the jackplate....anyone have any advice on this boat with that setup?

If you run shallow, get the jackplate.

I have repaired Blue Wave boats- I have seen nails used to secure the deck to the stringers.

GET THE MAKO...

Kenner 1800 Vision with a 90HP

Float in 10-12 inches depending on weight in the boat.

Boat is heavy. FiberGlass is think and sturdy - even the inner hull and console.

If you want to get shallower then polling in 12" of water then get out and wade !

The bluewave wont be nearly as "sturdy" or cut through chop like the Kenner will... IMO - (but mine does have the inner liner to strengthen it more than the VX series...

As far as I know Bill Kenner's father invented the modern center console boat, called the Kenner Ski Barge. His hull design ( the one Tracker bought) is one of the driest in the business and they will run shallow. They will take a good pounding too. You'll notice that you hardly ever see an old Kenner for sale and when you do, it doesnt last long. Lots and lots of guides used them for years on the Gulf Coast. Many still do. I wouldnt hesitate to buy one, even now. My brother and Bill Kenner are good friends and I know how they're built. They say they havent changed the hull integrity since Tracker bought them, either. For the money...I like the Mako/Kenner lines. They arent Boston Whalers or Contenders...but those are different animals altogether. Take a look at Bill's new lines, the BlackJack and Fontiers, too. But grab your wallet. I fished out of a Nautic Star in 2 feet of water last weekend. I also fought a 25 MPH SE wind on the way to the flats. I was impressed. That's another line you might want to see.

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

Hey guys this is some great info, The wife and I were out looking at the Mako's this past weekend. To say the least we fell in love with the 1901 and the offshore 183.

On a good day do you think the 1901 could make it let's say 10 to 15 miles out? We are looking for a multi purpose boat. I would say that we might go off shore only 3 or 4 times a year when the weather was good. This would be why we also like the 183. Does anybody know of any Mako dealers besides Bass Pro Shops? I am not a Mercury man and would rather have the Evinrude e-tec.

A 19 ft can run offshore on the flattest seas. Just be careful on those hot, humid, windless days that bring on the flat seas. Those days also bring on thunderstorms and squalls that spring up right on top of you.

The 21 ft maybe a better choice if you plan to run offshore. The 24 would be even better. The difference between the 21 and 24 is huge in terms of sea worthiness.

That said I've seen flats scooters 20 miles offshore. Those guys got cajones.

I fished, dove, and water skied all over south Florida and the upper keys back in the sixties in a Kenner Ski Barge. Great boat!!!!!

Mako is a Tracker brand, as is Kenner and Nitro, they're all the same boat. Tracker is contracted with merc, that's what will come on them. Which in todays reality, doesn't make a difference. What does make a difference, is there service where you live? Or where you're going?
