Are these boats really all they say they are in the videos? It looks too good to be true. It would seem that there has to be some major drawback to them or more boats would be made that way.

Here's the scoop on the plastic boats.

They don't lie, they just forget a few *details*

The roplene material is tough, but somewhat soft, and when it gets hot, it will soften more. A 95 degree day will soften it enough to mold the hull to the trailer bunks. Oops. Seen it do it.

It it isn't light...

If I had a rental fleet sitting in a marina, they'd be the deal, but unless you are planning on beating the heck out of your new rig, there's probably better choices.

I wonder what the 100+ degree water in lake Fairfield would do to them? I like the design of the 17' skiff that they came out with.

Cool looking little boat, but 1400# hull weight for a 17' boat rated for a 90 hp. It may struggle to get out of it's own way.

I saw that but the thing is 96" wide. That's what I like. Most small boats are too narrow.

I agree with that!!!! Try an older boat! My 17' Ranger, is plenty wide and the deck is plenty large! To match the same front deck that my boat has spacewise I would have to buy a 18.6" boat to match the space on my front deck!

The boat I have now has a hull weight of 950 and I have a 60 on it. It goes as fast as I need it to. I would like to talk to someone that owns one of these boats. I was told that they have changed them to stop the warping on hot days but that could just be bs.

I have a 2002 190 bay. These boats are as tough as they say they are. You won't have to worry about spider wed cracks in the gel coat from banging it into docks or from old age and weathering. As far as I can tell mine has not molded itself to the trailer bunks and it doesn't seem just overly heavy. When I first bought the boat I pulled it with a '97 1500 v6 single cab short bed chevy pickup for a little over a year without any problems. I have since up-graded to a bigger truck. It is rated for a 150hp engine and I have a 140 4-stoke suzuki that pushes it just fine.
With all of that being said there are somethings I do not like about it.
1. What is suppose to be dry storage sometimes somehow manages to get wet.
2. The cranking battery is a pain to get to or to take in and out.
3. The glove box in the console in mine is angled the wrong way so that when you open it after running across water that is a little rough everything wants to fall out.
All in all I like my triumph and have no thoughts of getting rid of it.

Bigdad fixed that wet/dry storage problem with his boat. He used some kind of sealing around the lid and it works great. Maybe he will chime in and share. Hows the ride on your boat? is it pretty dry in rough conditions?

The only time I have been wet in rough water was last spring on cedar creek. My younger brother had a baseball game in palmer around 1:00pm, so my dad and I thought we would do a little fishing before the game. The wind was strong out of the north, not sure on the mph, but it was strong. The waves were 3-4' rollers atleast. It was rough enough to make me stop the boat, put on our life jackets(which I never ware), and make sure I had my kill switch lanyard attached(which I only really use when I am by myself). Other than that one time as long as I got it trimmed out correctly, it cuts through waves fairly well.

You've got to be kidding about not wearing your PFD or kill switch whenever the big motor is running. Just asking for a dfisaster IMO.

If I had a bass boat that sat low in the water, did not have any sides, and ran 60+ mph, then yes I would strap one on everytime. I run around 30mph+/- and beening that it is a cc bay boat the sides are high, so I am confident that I will not fall out. When I am by myself I always attach the kill switch.

I fish alot with Triumph and I love his boat. I have a bass boat myself and yes, I like it, but if I was to go out and buy one, I would buy what he has. That boat is very good in rough water and rides really smooth. I really like the tall sides when fishing too. Hands down one of the nicest CC boats I have ever been in. Waker..... I fish with this man on a regular basis and he has never done anything to make me question putting on a life jacket. Is is kind of irresponsible (yes), but I trust every move he makes and his mindset when he is on the water is alot more than some other people that are on the lake. Just thought I would chime in and give my .02 cents worth....

It has rod holders on it. They are not in the best of shape. i kinda let them go to pot since I don't live bait fish. I am planing on going fishing today after work so I will take the camera and try to get some good pics of the interior. It is fairly roomy. I have had 4 people in the boat, all casting, numerous times.

Triumph 190, falling out of a boat at 30 mph can render you unconcious. And there are several dead football players from Florida who were in a Everglades (one of the very best)center consoles who didn't think they would fall overbaord, either. Wear your life jacket and your kill switch at all times, please! If the recent rash of Texas boating deaths (some involving very experienced anglers) are not enough to get you practicing boating safety, then you may just be too hard-headed to change. Do you have a family? Think about them, PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Sorry to hijack your thread, but after all the recent mishaps, it just chaps my rear to hear people saying they don't wear PFD's or kill switches. I'm not your daddy, but I am your fellow man and TFF'er and I'd hate to be reading your obit someday.

Thanks for your concern, but I can assure you safety is taken very seriously on my boat. I actually grew up In Baytown fishing in the bay with my dad on his boat. The only time I have every came close to falling out of a boat was on the bow working the trolling motor. IMHO it is much easier to fall out of the boat and into the water by loosing your balance on the bow of the boat then it is running across the water at a safe speed.
How many fisherman where there PDF while on the bow of the boat?

The water we were in that day on cedar creek was the roughest I have every been in. Taking safety into consideration we put our PDF on and I made sure I had my kill switch hooked on.

The gas tank is in/under the console. The fill hole is on the left(port) side of the console. You can't really see it in the picture, but it is just infront on the speaker.

Here are some more pics of the console.

I have a 2003 Triumph 190. My biggest complaint about the polyethylene hull is that it gets dirty very easily. It's like it has pores that get full of dirt and you have to power wash it to get it clean. Other than that they are great boats!

Triumph190-
Have you done the mod to the trailer? Hard to tell from the pictures, but there is a factory mod (free from a dealer). It adds a support to the front of the trailer and supports the bow. Easy to bolt in, but you have to do it in the parking lot while the boat is off the trailer.

The 2003 may already have the modified trailer. It adds a couple of short bunks to the front of the trailer and supports the bow. The bunks are perpendicular to the bow and V-shaped.
My 2001 had to have it added.
I can take a pic if you need it, but may be a few days to get to it.
Merrit Island Marine in NC can help you out as well. BTW, I have a 2001 190 Bay, bought it new. Been a pretty good boat.

When ever you get time I would love to see a pic. Mine is a 2002 ez-loader trailer if that helps.

Thanks

Triumph 190:
Here is a link to a few pictures I took of the trailer mod.

http://s557.photobucket.com/albums/ss20/...nt=5a0c0a93.pbw

This mod was designed by Triumph to support the bow, and relieve some of the weight from the bottom of the boat where it contacts the long bunks. Supposedly this prevents "warping" of the hull, which some early hulls were prone to in extremely hot weather (Like Texas, maybe?) Installation is performed with the boat off the trailer- I did it in the parking lot at the Cedar Creek ramp (Lake Whitney) while the boat was at the courtesy dock. (Winter, no traffic, I wasn't a dock hog, honest!) Took about 10 minutes. Also keeps the rub rail from contacting the bow roller if you back in too far.
I did this quite some time ago, even though I didn't have any deformation issues to begin with. Don't know if it affects the 2002 EZ-Loader, but this was a recall that never made it out to most 190Bay owners. I learned about it on a Triumph owners forum. I contacted Merritt Island Marine in NC, they shipped me the parts along with installation instructions (Not exactly rocket science) at no charge.
Don't know if it applies to your hull, they supposedly changed the Roplene formula in 2002 or 2003 or 2004, I am not sure which year.
Let me know if it affects you, and how this works out.

Hey Scumbucket-
Wipe the hull down with mineral oil (or baby oil). Gives it a sheen and helps keep the dirt from clogging the pores. PIA, but plenty easier than waxing a fiberglass hull.

Vaughn-
I added some extra rod holders to mine. The factory installed Perko's are OK for stashing rods while running but I wanted some extra holders for driftin' and trollin'. I added a bank of three to the side, and also installed two rod holders. No problems with any of it. Accessories can be added, lots of folks worry about screws pulling out. Screws can pull out of anything. None of mine have come loose, but if they do it's an easy fix- I saved all the drill shavings in a plastic bag from added holes. When I move something around I can melt the shavings, patch the hole, sand it a bit and forget about it.
I have owned and fished out of more than a few boats. Lots of pros and cons on all of them. Not as pretty as a Mako or Whaler or Kenner or Blue Wave but Triumphs are tough boats and don't require any real maintenance. Good enough for me.

If you click the pick it will bring up the slide show.

I have not had this mod done to my trailer. Any idea where the nearest dealer? The closest one i have found is in temple.
