It is a 06 Merc 15hp... I havent found out exactly how fast it is via GPS, but I would guess around 20 or so... it does very well!

That jon boat will scoot at 20+/- MPH. With a flat bottom boat that will rattle your teeth out on a choppy day. There isn't a need to go much faster than that. You have done a good job on your rig. You need to take some updated pics and post them.

Thanks... Ya I dont take it out unless the wind speed is under 10mph or so cause it does get rather choppy at speed... I should take some updated pics... New stuff I have on there is the rear bench is now carpeted, new color fish finder in the middle, new 15hp Mercury motor (obviously), and new trolling motor, and some odds and ends..

Have you set up any rod holders on her? I bought my boat when a friend of mine really got me into bass fishing and so I bought a bass boat. Now that I'm looking for other species, I really wish I would have bought a center console instead. My boat is a good ride, but I can't find ANY rod holders made for bass boats that attach to the cleats. I don't want to drill any holes in my fiberglass either! Rod holders are awesome for bottom fishing. I imagine that you have many options having that kind of boat because practically all rod holders have excellent bases. I would be curious to see what kind of rod holder set up you incorporate. I'll be checking back in to see if you go that route. VERY nice boat, and it looks like you had a lot of fun! Steven

Yes I put rod holders in the front... I drilled two holes (one on each side of the boat) up on the front deck, and did 2 flush mounts. Then I bought extensions for them.. Heres a pic.. And for the cleat kind of rod holder... did you try cleatclamp.com?? I was thinking about getting one of these for the back of my boat...

I will pass on some info that really helped me out. If you plan on catching larger catfish, the plastic rod holders can break. I had one break on me, it was Atwood i believe, but after that I replaced all of the plastic holders with Driftmaster Pro series rod holders. There is another brand out now called "Monster Rod Holders" that are said to be fantastic too. I have accidentally hung the Driftmaster on a tree branch in the river and it stopped the boat. No damage, no bend to the rod holder.
As to the above "situation." That TFF member seems to prefer men. Doesnt make him a bad person or a bad fisherman. Good job GTI on just addressing that you dont go that way, and then letting it slide.
