Any lake that I can catch at least one, that's a good crappie lake! ![crying crying](/forums/images/graemlins/default/crying.gif) But seriously, Ray Roberts is the only lake I have luck on, but haven't tried the spawning season yet. Only fished the bridge columns and night fished during the summer and always came home with something.

Joe Pool by far.... ![bang bang](/forums/images/graemlins/default/bang.gif) Home of The Dinks!!! I know this topic comes up all the time, so it's pretty common to see various lakes posted depending on how often one fishes at his/her lake near by. BB and Fork yield good quality... I just think it's funny how Joe Pool crappies are known for stop growing as soon as they reached 9.75"...and there are lots of them every year.... The normal for crappie cycle is about every 6yrs....so with that said, some years are better than others at a certain lake, with the exception of Joe Pool...It can be another 50yrs and we would still catch 10-1 dinks/keepers year round...eheheeheh

Ive personally experienced that a lot this year at JP. It was not so bad last year...My PB a 17.5" came out of one of JP Creeks. Ive caught several over 14 and a few over 16 already this year...but your dang right about them "2 Smalls" and some days its like 3 to 1 that they measure 9.75-9.95 inches. Say..down south a bit I know that back in the 80s and 90s Lake Conroe was quite the Crappie Lake...I grew up in that area and am familiar with the problems it had...but its been on the up swing for some time...just wonder why no on mentions it anymore ...or even another huge lake down that way to the east of it...Lake Livingston! Lot of "white perch" down that way too. How about Lake Cooper....before the drought and lake of ramp/access that hammered most lakes last time around I use to hear about all the monster slabs that lurked in that place wanting to get caught cause the were to tired of chasing minnows!?

Although Groundhog Carl and I were fishing out there last year in August and caught 21 or so keepers out of 40 or so fish caught. I'll take that ratio anyday! ![woot woot](/forums/images/graemlins/default/woot.gif)

Ray Roberts sure puts out some good crappie. Lots of timber and brush to fish too.
