get some range cubes from a feed store and use them to chum your waters. if you can chum the day before and when you get there, it would help

good luck

Carp will be less likely to be hooked on circle hooks, in my opinion. They do a lot of 'tasting', sucking in and blowing out, so a very sharp 'j' hook is more likely to hook them. Generally circle hooks work for those fish who pick up the bait and move away with it so the hook will be pulled against the corner of their mouth and catching them.
So, my advice is to get some extra sharp bait hooks (mustad ultra sharps, gamakatsu, etc.) in a size 8 or 6.
Tight lines!

LSC, do you use the circles with a bolt setup?

Baitwise you can make your own doughbait out of Wheaties, red soda pop, a little flour, peanut butter and vanilla. My Dad does this and swears by it. He fishes Granbury and has had great luck with it.

I've caught more than my share of carp and not one has been caught on a treble. Sweet corn = gamakatsu octopus circle hook size 6... maize or other baits rigged on hair = gamakatsu live bait hd size 6. No need for trebles unless you need a little help catchin fish, if ya know what I mean.

LOL. Before I tarted all over the place, hehe. Nice.

I still use those circle hooks anytime I'm not using a bolt-rig or anytime I fish local ponds and waters with sweet corn.
