A co-author and I (who are continually researching lines for project) have tested over 30 lines. The "best" that we've seen so far is the Seaguar Carbon Pro. Unfortunately, Carbon Pro is set to be discontinued within a couple of months due to the cost in making the line. Their (Seaguar aka Kureah Corp) sales of Carbon Pro went up by a full %20 last season...still it's simply too expensive to make.
I just purchased 5 bulk spools of various pound tests. I plan on purchasing 3 more. I'm hoarding it like it's a nuclear holocaust.

Bps proved itself to me as I caught 7 that wrapped me in a tree and when she came up there was piece of bark that was stuck or wedged to my line and it didnt have a fray or a kink at all!!!!!
seaguar is good too, pricey though!

Then again, the largest test (on bait casting) I use is 15 and that's for my pitching & swimbaits. On spinning gear the largest I go is 12 on a larger spool...I usually stick with 8lb for finesse and crankbaits. It serves me well. Yeah, I heard you’ve pounded all but the Red Label trying to find your go-to line. I think you’ll like the new stuff…although I have not yet tested it. I did pick some up from “the man” to test it. I’m busy as heck right now but I’ll post the results when I get around to getting it “mic’d”.

I've been using InvisX for about 2 years ... I like it. I just bought some Berkley 100% and I think it may be more supple.

At this point I would say my top three pics are... Trilene 100%- Expensive and just a little stiff. Carbon Pro- Affordable, but a little stiff AbrazX- Just right If you find anything you like better let me know.

I started using the red line a couple days ago and even though I haven't given it much use yet I've been pretty impressed with it so far.

Seguar invis X is my favorite. especially the 15 and 20# I also like the New Seguar red Lable for the price. Ive Got 10# red lable on my spinning reels and 12# for my crankbait rod. I also like trilene 100% for the sensitivity but i think its diamiter is a little biggish for flourocarbon.

Please dont take this wrong but how can you know this since it just came out? I have been wanting to try it but also would like to know how this line is holding up, casting, wear, memory. And is it actually Fluoro or just mono with fluoro coating. Again NOT KNOCKING anything but I can not find out much about it's performance.

Does anyone know who makes BPS Flourocarbon line??? I know I asked this earlier.
I plan on getting some Seaguar Invis tomorrow at Bass Pro but was curious about the Bass Pro line.
Also does anyone know where the best place / price to buy Seaguar in BULK???
I had a few breakoffs with vanish this weekend in the timber on Lake Conroe and was a little SICK about it. I know the timber can do that but wife was fishing 20lb vanish with a jig and broke one off. I may be paranoid and was a believer in Vanish but I feel I need to try something else....
Thanks for any replies....

Well I used google and BPS Flourocarbon is made by TORAY and apparently the TORAY line of Super Hard Strong Flourocarbon is what you get at Bass Pro for half the price of the TORAY label.
Just what I found... If anyone knows different post....

Just to clarify right now LFT does not yet have its true 100% fluoro out but there is the FluoroHybrid line which is a copolymer coated in fluoro. It has the same characteristics as fluoro and has been great for me so far. I am really imprssed by it and have been testing/using it the last 6-12 months. I will saya ton of it has been sold the last month or so and I am still waiting to hear the fist negative word about it. I just wanted to make sure I pointed out that its not pure fluor as of yet but that version is coming. Thanks

i've used the bps for about a year and a half and have had no complaints and only a couple of break offs.(more my fault for not retying after getting hung up than the performance of the line) hope this helps

How often would it be recommened to retie to keep the flouro coating at the knot strongest. And would you still use a flouro knot?

The LFT uses amulti-coating system and its pretty significant. The line itself would have to break down first I would think. It requires the same knot mainentance just as most lines do. Always wet the knot before cinching and retie often or at least check you line often. The LFT line is VERY abrasion resistant but again I would still check often. The San Diego Jam knot seems to be the best knot for the LFT line in terms of all around use. Here is a link to some data and info on the LFT lines that Iposted a little while back that also includes a diagram for the San Diego Jam knot. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...id_#Post3137207

Anyone tried the suffix floro or the sunline shooter Shooter is Da Bomb, but big $$$$$. Also it has very little stretch and is thus prone to breaking under a high shock loading. Do NOT use it for Swimbaits! I type from experience. TFP

Hi-SEAS 100% Fluorocarbon will ABSOLUTELY put any other brand of FC to total shame. It is simply the BEST fluoro on the market, hands down. MUCH better knot strength and abrasion resistance than any other line, extremely easy handling and virtually no memory. On top of this, I have numerous stories to back up how amazingly strong this line is. This may seem like a total shameless sponsor promotion but I ASSURE you that I'm being 110% genuine when I tell you that Hi-SEAS Fluorocarbon is the far and away the best there is. TRY IT. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. www.HiSeas.net

P line 100%. Has a little memory but they can't break it.Low stretch. Look at the tackletour test for strength and stretch.

I don't know about best, just from lack of testing many other brands, but I trust Seaguar. It has light memory on cold mornings, but after a few minutes it works itself out. Very strong as well; I've pulled many a big fish out of what I thought were impossible situations while using it. Twenty bucks a spool. It's up there, but it's worth it.

only gamma shall touch my reels You might want to re-think that bro. Gamma is getting out of the fishing line business. Their fishing divison is for sale though so maybe someone picks them up.

I've only fished one brand because I'm cheap and I've had absolutely zero problems with it. I keep hearing people say that Flouro has bad memory problems and that they have to use a lot of the line treatments to keep from fuzzing up. I've never had a this problem with the brand I use but I have been known to backlash with the thicker P-Line Copolys, so it isn't like I'm an expert caster or anything.
I've never broke off on a fish due to line failure with this brand either.
XPS from Bass Pro Shops is my brand.
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

You ask 50 fisherman this and you'll get different answers from just about all of them. I personally like the Seaguar invis x. I just bought some of the new Seaguar Tatsu and am eager to give it a go. There are certainly some fluro better than others but overall, I say go with what you have some confidence in.

I have fished the LFT Fluorcarbon and all I can say WOW. Nice stuff. The LFT line is not Fluorocarbon. It is a Fluorocarbon coated copolymer Line. (Coated Mono)

Tackletour.com has a good break down of all the lines. It seems that some have better abrasion resistance, some density and some breaking strength. If I remimber there are only two countries that produce fluorocarbon, Japan and Germany and the different brands use different labels on their boxes, but with a few distinctions. Go check it out.

Has anyone used Berkley Vanish? I spooled up 10 pound test for my shaky head rig yesterday and lost two 3-4lb. fish due to this [censored] in open water.
I guess you get what you pay for. I'll stick with the 100@ Fluorocarbon.

I've been using seaguar for the last 3-4 years and it's top notch line anyway you look at it. The Tatsu line they make is by far the best quality line they make. It's pricey but it's pretty much all I use other than 10lb invisx for cranking and 20lb abrasix for jigs. Everything else is 15 Tatsu and it's unbelievable!

Mostly over the years I hear go with Seaguar but BPS and Vicious have decent reviews. I'd probably go with the cheapest of the three. I like trilene mono allot too because it's good, cheap & made in the USA. BG & XL are my favs when I can't afford fluorocarbon.

I like Seaguar InvisX prolly best of all but Berkley 100% is very good too. Just know that Berkley has a larger diameter pound to pound than Seaguar. So if I want Berkley 17# that is roughly the same diameter as Seaguar, I will buy 20# InvisX.

I thought I'd give Vicious a real chance this season, I liked the bulk price, but after 5 months of working with it I'm going back to Seagar. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Whats the best flouro that isnt too expensive. Seems like everyone uses Seguar but thats out of my price range. I've been just using mono but I bought some berkley vanish to try for my crank bait rod. Seems alot of people on here says its junk though. I havent used it but a couple times. Bought some spiderwire ultracast because it was marked down from $20 to $7 but havent tried it yet. Sorry for the long post.

I used to think that any line basicly would do just fine.....I gotta tell you though the guys who recommend Seguar red label are dead on.
I am amazed with it and its now on 90% of my reels

More that a few independent tackle evaluators have agreed. When I hook THE fish, I don't care if I saved three bucks on this spool of line going with something that's supposed to be almost as good as Tatsu.

Tatsu is the only fluoro I use these days.

Vicious has given me so many perfect days on the water that I stopped trying other lines ones I got to it. I will sometimes use Berkley Vanish on crankbaits because it adds a bit of stretch that helps, without switching to mono

LOL. This thread was started 6 years ago. I love the double standard on forums. People want new people to search and topic not to be discussed over and over but then cry foul for no reason when people readdress previously covered topics in existing threads so as not to create new ones... did it occur that no one cares and instead they wanted to expand upon a previously opened topic? Imagine how awful search engines would be if none of us continued to expand upon anything or grow knowledge bases and instead made a new page or article or thread with ever thought or question we had to share. Go look at yahoo questions and see how much worse than Wikipedia or a top google search is... then never comment again on a thread resurrection on a web forum lol

Recently I've started using Gander Mountain brand fluorocarbon. It's made by Sunline and I've been happy with it.

I use Invisx and really like it, I'll be getting a spool of Tatsu in the next day or so, and try it out this weekend.

WOW, this is a risky topic. I don't have time to read all the responses but like my Dad taught me...There is two kinds of beer. Your beer and free beer.
With that in mind, I typically tell people that Flurocarbon isn't a must have but certainly is a nice luxury. Secondary to its cost I recommend using the best you can afford and that you have confidence in. I choose to use Bass Pro XPS 100% Flurocarbon. I've tried several of the other budget friendly lines but find I prefer the Bass Pro.

The world is filled with fishermen who hate Vanish-breakage is always a problem with this line.
Its a Berkley product and I'm surprised they haven't addressed the issue.
I use Invisix and Red Label and like both.
