It's really nice to finally see some rain. However, is it enough to make a difference in the lake levels?

Is there some sort of rough formula to translate how many inches equates to how high a lake level will go up? I imagine all areas are different.

I hope so. The thought of not being able to put in my favorite lake(Fairfield) is not a happy one.

What it does to the bite is only temporary. Getting back on some lakes like Fairfield. Others will only get better with the new or reborn vegetation. I can hardly wait!!

Most lakes require the rain to come from above the lakes. It allows the creeks to catch the water and run off into the lake.

Rains that are directly over the lake rarely brings the levels up alot. Also, light rains in drought areas are asorbed and less runoff is likely as oppossed to down pours. Down pours makes for quick flooding and rapid runoff into the ditches or creeks that carry the water to the watersheds.

So to answer your question, it really depends on where the rains fell, how much rain was received, how it came down, was 1 inch received in an hour, or was that 1 inch nice and slow that took 8 hours to equal 1 inch. If you had nice and slow rain, chances for run off are less likely due to ground asorbtion, where as a quick down pour makes for fast runoff.

I think it will help out the lake levels, but I dont think it will erase the drought. Come on rain! grin

We're in fo a lot more now. The radar is solid rain from the metromess to West Tx. South of the metromess isn't faring as well. But our lakes up here should benefit.

Bring it on!!!!

Pretty good runoff right now. All cold. Like the rain, but it is going to kill the fishing.
