Which is great because that means everyone is fishing(I hope) Took my dog Dharma and the two wt. out yesterday afternoon to a hole on Shoal Creek on 9th and Lamar right in downtown Austin. Caught two nice sunfish, two warmouths, and a Rio Grande Chiclilid. Not bad for a fifteen minitue walk from the house. Trying to figure out how I can post the spot with Google earth now.

It's more than the catfish would do.

Dead quiet in here lately, except the usual suspects.

I googled 9th & Lamar & got a little bridge so I assume thats where you went, I want to catch a Rio Grande Cichlid some day.
Its windy up here, smaller male bass are all over the shallows now, them big girls startin to move a bit too. I fished yesterday & although I caught a lot of bass , I didnt get a legal (14" +) one until almost dark, then bam, bam, bam... caught 3 good uns (around 3 lbs).

Yup they were not bass fish but. . . You found it. Caught fish at the pools on both sides of the bridge. I was suprised with the Chichilid though. Didn't know they were in there.

That must be at the northern edge of their range. Very cool! I want to check them off my list someday.

Thinking of taking a day off in the next week or two to go fishing somewhere. Meanwhile, any day over the next four months that doesn't have winds sustained at 20MPH will probably be a good day to cast a line in a local pond... especially since it appears that it may never rain again. We probably ought to fish before we go completely dry!

thumb noticed yesterday that my local lake is lower than I have ever seen it this time of the year, it is normally at full pool in Feb-Mar, if we dont get some good rain it will be impossible to launch a boat in Jun/July

Skeery. When I moved here in the summer of 07 I drove down from Illinois, where we lived for just a few months. I crossed the Red River and it was nearly bursting its banks. The whole state of Oklahoma was essentially underwater. Now here we are less than two short years later, bone dry. Pretty wild.
