I'm actually surprised that he said "disconnect". As I recall, a junction only has to be accessible. I'd slap a junction box on the wall, clamp the romex in it and screw a cover on it. Then I'd secure the romex within 6 inches of the box and every foot thereafter. My guess is that would be up to code.

For the post above: And ALL switches, disconnects, or whatever you want to call them are amp rated. ALL of them. Against NEC to manufacture or sell unrated switches.
