You ain't seen nothing, yet. Wait until you see how our model of efficiency government gets control and shows the health care industry how to just perform tasks the Gov. authorize and do it more efficiently, than is already being done.

yes i can c where we are headed. when a company hast to pay another company to come in and inspect returns and tell u what you can send back to a return center and what you can not. some ladies makeup can not be sent back because it is hazordus and must be sent back by a special pick up by a haz-mat team. which is sent to a central location and cost 30,000 dollars a truck to dispose of. this will drive the little people out of business. and shame on someone who throws it in the trash.

Its 80k to repair things cause nobody in gov't does anything effecient. u and i could have the thing repaired for 1/4 of that.
my advice to anybody going down there: if u have a fiberglass boat that u dont want scratched up, DONT GO. aluminum is fine as long as u can trim the motor all the way up out of the water.
last time i went it cost me two trailer lights and a nice scratch on one of my pontoons. good fishing though

Hey, if you can get it done for 1/4 call the park office, get the number of the facilities contract supervisor and get your bid in ASAP, it is nearly too late. They would love to have funds left over to afford a fishing dock.
FYI, Nothing is getting "repaired" it is all new construction, and some tear down of the old south ramp dock might be included, and the north dock was taken out last December. The excavating tools needed to reach from firm ground beyond 20ft are not plentiful or cheap to rent or operate. This is not initially a government designed project, a guide, Cory Vincent, asked a contractor what the dredging would cost. The Park management got a price from that contractor for a new courtesy dock for both ramps. These structures are of course to TPWD specification, and will accommodate handicapped visitors. The work has to be done in accordance with state over water safety standards, (life jackets if your feet are over water because they have lost a few good folks wearing anything less). That contractor priced the dock initially, then the TPWD facilities group got involved afterward, and scantioned the job scope. I understood the docks will be made of metal so they won't rot out like the present south ramp wood dock has. The north ramp really never had a useful courtesy dock.
Two years ago the wood fishing pier just south of the south ramp became unsafe from wood rot, and they had to tear it down.
I know all about volunteer effort, know these ramps issues pretty well and the associated easy job thought lines. I had my own thoughts how easily the south ramp could be made more servicable. We tried them and understand what cannot be done easily. That is my buddy's and my 3'high by 4' wide by 6' long hand laid rock pile under the south ramp dock. So we could get our boats to float out past that berm, we burned a good day for fishing moving those berm rim rocks one Saturday last October. I asked for volunteers at the time, but it turned out to be a pretty lonely job for just the two and a half of us. PS, my concept of how to dredge was way under equipped to do what was really needed.

my job kept me from helping but i did send yall a little money to help with your project. i love that old lake as much as any one. there are some good black bass in the lake and a hard pulling red is a bonus. i caught the first one i ever caught on a c rig and knew righ off it was not a black. 25 mints later i landed the 15# red which was a lot of fun. everyone i have caught has been in open water where i let off on the drag and followed it on the trolling motor. the biggest that i caught was 38 in long and weighted around 28 #'s on a cheep hand held scale. lot of fun and does take time on a bass rig. tie to the bank with live or cut bait would not be a easy task with a bass fishing rig.

I am very confident Cory/Mike put our ramp money contributions to good use dredging and hauling. Last Nov./Dec. Mike got the north ramp serviceable temporarily, good enough that we could launch for even a few more weeks. It is my judgment that without rain fall we have about 3-5 more weeks of water left before the remaining berm still off the north ramp will need another boat wide gully made in it. That is a hand job because standard equipment cannot reach out that far. That time window extends one week for every 1.2" of rain they have in that area. This presumes the power station can continue to operate. Hopefully the main ramp project contract will be let and some work commenced before more volunteer hand rock movement has to be done.
The power company has only 5 weeks of serviceable water level left in the lake. If the Trinity River authority will not sell them water, and the area does not get rainfall then they will probably have to take the station to idle mode, or shutdown, or construct pump height alterations. If they even go to idle mode the lake will cool. Their time window also extends one week for every 1.2" of rain they have in that area, or river water they can pump up into the lake. FYI, last summer their river pumping rate was not even capable of equaling the water loss by evaporation. Therefore I do not have a lot of hope for those pumps being able to extend their operating window without some rainfall also added to the lake.
38" and 28# you done well, and so did TPWD and the lake!

i made my last trip to fairfield untill we get a new ramp or the ones we have are reworked. i buy a state park pass every year just for fairfield. i use it at whitney every now and then but i read now that the ramp at the state park at whitney is closed due to low water. we need an 8 in hard rain and then drizzle till it dries up and it would make things a lot better everwhere.

Why will the TRWA not sell water to the plant?

Front office at the FF park told me the bidding for the ramp and dock project will not close until the end of April. So work cannot commence before then for sure.
There was about enough water left to run the power station without any alterations until about early April. They need 1.2" per week of rain fall or Tinity River water pumping rights to extent that operating window ONE week per 1.2" added.
They were not pumping Trinity Water last Sunday.
Call your represenatives, ask them to put some heat on the TR Authority, or pray for rain, or ask your favorite Indian to do a rain dance, or do all three.

Larry, I put mine in 3/1 and did't have a lot of fuss. It really depends on the type of boat you are putting in and how much you mind the chance of scratching the bottom of it. Mine is a 17' aluminum tunnel so it don't mind the rocks and such so much. We polled it out, but powered it in so it can be done. Don runs a pretty big bass boat and he was on the lake Sunday.

I have a 17' whaler. When I was there last month it would have been no problem. The biggest problem I saw was everyone wants to drive their boat on the trailer instead of just winching it up. Some would have 2 or 3 people in it.

http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...ish#Post3215032When I am in doubt I look for somebody reporting here they have just been down there with a reasonable size boat. If I cannot find someone here I call the park office and ask if bass boats are still getting on and off the lake.
