which Kistler and which Carrot Stix?
I have a Kistler Helium II and a Carrot Stix Boyd Ducket. Both are MH 7'. I prefer the Kistler over the carrot stix, but they are both good rods. Primiary worm and jig with the Kistler and Carolina rig on the carrot stix.

After watching a friend of mine break two Kistlers on Friday setting the hook on fish, I would recommend a Carrot Stick even though I've never fished one. I started laughing after the first one but when the second one snapped I just about died. That was $500 worth of rods gone in one day of fishing!

I can't understand how someone breaks a rod on the hook set. I've been fishing since I could walk...1976, and I think I broke one rod on a hookset only because the rod was old and beat up and probably already had a small crack in it from stepping on it or something. IMO If you continually break rods on the hook set than you are setting up WAY too hard!
I've been using Kistler rods for the last three years and have yet to find another rod I like better in their price range.

I've got some of the new 21 Carrot Gold Stix, and they are a joy to fish... light, sensitive, and powerful. I use them for Texas Rigs and Jigs as well as spinnerbaits.

I am a huge Falcon fan, however i have a 7'8" all day flippin stick from Kistler, and have set the hook pretty hard several times and never had a problem out of it, semi light weight very stout over all good rod. as for the Carrot sticks, they are super light, and very sensitive, however i absolutely cannot stand foam grips, and not too mention in case you didnt notice they are bright ORANGE another huge turn off. so long story short the FALCON CARA is what you need. you can get the new T7 for a few more dollars than a carrot stick, will not be let down!

GO FISH Not sure how you two can't figure it out, but it's a fairly well known that Kistler had some defective blanks. Carrot Sticks have had the same issues as did the original Dobyns rods. The problems occur because of mistakes in the layout phase is what I am told. It's the drawback to building rods in Asia. There are only a few manufacturers that can produce consistent quality, but they still aren't perfect. I'll add that while most breaks are due to a defective blank or a blank damaged after delivery, remember every time you step on your rod it matters, you're asking for trouble with braid, a heavy hook set and a fast or extra fast action rod. Fast or extra fast rods have trouble taking the shock in situations like these. It doesn't matter who or where it's made, you're asking for trouble.
