On the last Knot Wars the Palomar Knot lost to the Fishing Fool Knot. The Palomar is just to easy to tie though!

I use the palomar knot most of the time but it needs to be wet to tie. I spit on it every time. There might be a better know out there but the palomar knot is quick and easy and strong.

Does anyone have a link to a good video of someone tying a San Diego Jam knot? It's a knot that is easily visualized & understood, but for people who are all thumbs like me, I can't quite figure out how to hold the hook & line in order to tie the knot in a reasonable amount of time. And I have not yet even tried to tie it in a boat in the cold wind & waves.

Here's a link to an animation:

Here's a link I found.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjQutiu6Ick

The article also said that this know works well for heavy braid. I use small braid, and it don't like the little stuff (8-10lb braid). It'll pull right through. For braid, I use the Palomar knot.
