Yea I caught one big slab at the Southlake one last weekend. Thanks I might give it a try sometime. When I can't get out to the lake I like to hit the ponds and try out new techniques...it helps to have a little confidence in something before throwing it come tournament time.

Ya this pond is in stone lakes in southlake...I used to live in that sub-division and that is the product of many of the bass I used to stock in there. I don't know how many 5+ pound fish I put in there..I still visit it quite often and it is a pretty easy pond but there are a few baits they really like..Once you unlock it you will knock their lights out.

Thats awesome! I was wondering about that the other day...I just couldnt imagine how the florida strains got in there! You did a heck of a job and those fish are doing really well...they seem to have plenty to eat and all of them are really healthy.

Speaking of tournaments, I was wondering if anyone knows of any tournaments for only small jon boats. I just got one, its my first boat to have. Just curious if there is such a thing.

I know there had been a few small boat clubs that have been started but I think most of them failed. A lot of people have trouble getting an adequate livewell in the small boats, but I used to fish regular tournaments at Lewisville and Grapevine when I only had a pond prowler.

You just kept the fish on a stringer or in a basket? How did you work that out?

I don't know about just a jon boat tourny but I use to fish out of a 14ft jon boat when I was a kid and did pretty well. Don't be ashamed of pulling that thing up to any tournament...a boat doesn't catch fish...you do! And they might laugh at launch time but come weigh in time if you bring in that monster sack there faces are...PRICELESS! I use to love fishing out of my jon boat...could bang it up and not worry about it and get to places that others couldnt. Enjoy it bro...nothing like your first boat!

I bought a livewell system they sell just for jon boats...Cabelas or Bass Pro has them. They run off a battery and work really well. I even built a flipping deck on the front of mine and installed a Big Foot for the trolling motor! You can really trick em out if you get creative.

Mine is a 10 ft bass raider, with just a trolling motor for now, I have to save a bit to get me an outboard motor. I think the maximum HP is like 3 HP. So for now I just carry it in the bed of my truck.

Jon Boat,

Check some of the other sections here on the TFF. I have seen tournaments for jon boats/tubers, just can't remember exactly where. Maybe post up in the tournaments section, or maybe bank fishing???? Post the question in some of these areas, and you will get responses.

Just checked and there is a tube and a kayak fishing section. Maybe post up in them as well as in the tournament section.

Proven lie since you did not know where the pond was...

57 responses / 1060 views and counting... I wasn't aware the count of 'responses' represented judgement of one's character? Perhaps the honesty and value of one's response is more redeeming than count? Since you decided to speak on behalf of the forum I figured I would speak on my own behalf.

That sounds very dignified, but then followed by this...

Wow... can you say 'self righteous'?

I've got $9.95 towards the fishing tournament video on this pond... all that is needed is 2 participants and it sounds like Dillard is still game, what about you gotteem?

My opinion is worth what you paid for it...
