Don't be fooled, Livingston at 90,000 acres is much larger than Fork.(3 times as big)

Only Sam Rayborn at 114,000 acres is the largest lake totally in the state.

It has some great creeks too. I hope the tournament is in the upper end.

far, no these aren't far, Truman Missouri, Guntersville Alabama, Patoka Indiana those are far rolfmao These are nothing. Usually Eufala Ok was the closest lake we had to fish. When every lake is less than 4 hours in a 7 lake schedule your very, very lucky. I heard from a guy in Missouri yesterday and there are a couple of those teams coming to fish a few of our tournaments flehan They live 9 hours from Dallas.
Looks like someone may have to miss 3-4 days of work to fish the entire schedule. That's not bad and you have several months to plan.

Ding, ding, ding, ding...winner, winner of a chicken dinner!

I know I'll commit to several of the tournaments if they are spread out a bit instead of all in the backyard of the DFW area. 5 hrs to Texoma is a cinch when you compare it to Indiana, S. Carolina, Florida or Mississippi.

Defunct. After not having a tournament in over a year, I forgot to renew the domain. Oops.

Bayou City Crappie Club disbanded last year too.

Having a club is like walking a tight rope. It a very delicate balancing act. What happens is that you get a big group of enthusiastic people together and start a club fishing locally. Attendance is good for a year or two but, begins to drop off quickly when the same folks keep winning month after month. Pretty soon the "also fished" folks get tired of giving money to the club champion and quit showing up. So, a club adds new lakes to the mix to get membership up from locals at the new lakes. They don't join because they think their just going to get their money taken by some ringer or hot shot and the folks that were winning don't participate because they'd rather quit while they are ahead than give some of that money they'd been winning back to folks when its a more equal playing field.

Watching CAT from a distance makes me glad that they are doing some of the things they are doing before that "cycle" plays out. Starting with a broad base of lakes to compete on is good, only having 7 or 8 tournaments a year is better than 12-13 but, most importantly, having winning teams truly share knowledge and techniques is the absolute best and key to making this thing last.

All the better reason to have one unified club instead of several small clubs I guess.

Greg,
As the 2009 president of the Crappie Angler of Texas, I only hope that I will have the chance to meet you and shake your hand. You put in words what this year's BOD is trying to accomplish. If everyone understood this as clearly as you, our job would be a lot easier.
