Great job! I wouldn't be surprised if the guys ended up in federal court. I remember a case in central LA where some young men shot a protected hawk. They ended up in a federal case, and seems one was fined to the tune of around $50,000. Can the state not also fine them "replacement cost" of the wildlife in addition to violation fines?
Reason I say that is I spoke with a fellow who caught an oversize black drum and had it in his boat. He called a game warden over to ask what it was. He received a ticket, and said he was told he might get an additional ticket from the state for "replacement costs". Guess that means that ignorance is no excuse. That's what I was always taught!

I'm glad you turned them in, but I really don't think the GW will do nothing about it.

I just wanted to say great job and Thank you. I did not know you get a reward for that but that is good. I hope the best you you. I really like a positive story about a game warden. Many times they are negative. Sounds like a great guy doing a great job.

Great story and pics and very nice job Photoguy. I have always concidered myself a hunter but never a killer. Just killing for fun is outright stupid. If it does go to court, I figure they may use your pics for evidence. Way to go

they are kids they were just out haveing fun more t hen likley not knowing what they were doing. i guess that they have never been taught that you eat what you kill or catch. ashamed that they left such a pretty bird to lay and die.
but i guess if they had taken to a local taxedermy shop the warden would have been notified, so either way i would have to say good job photoguy.
to the rest of you they are not punks because they are young.
i will almost bet they did not know what kind of trouble they were in to until the warden came out to pay them a visit.

I learned one of the guys was on parole these were not just kids having fun.Anyone who has a loaded gun, must know whats legal and when to pull the trigger..And a parolie with a GUN.. people ,like you, who always find a way to excuse these punks actions, are what is wrong with the youth..send them all to the pen, and you should join them..

...to the rest of you they are not punks because they are young. The poachers in this post are not punks because they are young. They're punks because they killed birds for no reason. They're punks because they then tried to hide their poaching. They're punks because of their attitude when confronted. And the paroled guy is a huge punk, because as a parolee, its illegal to possess, or being in the company of another punk who possesses a firearm. That's why we think they're punks. Many posters on this site are young men & women, and for the most part they are respected when that respect is earned. No doubt that this post generated some pretty strong responses, but I think that's because what they did was so over-the-top heinous to the kinds of folks who read & post here. Just my two cents worth.

Photoguy - you've already gone the extra mile on this but please go a bit further and keep us informed if you can on progression of the legal case.
