I need advice on mounting location before I start drilling. I have a Procraft 200 Combo Fish n Ski.

There is a step there but its angling back toward the center. I also fish in brush and shallows quite a bit and would prefer not to knock it off.

Also the unit mount is tricky due to the windsheild. I want to swivel it when I am up front but the windsheild would block my use of that.

most guys mount them at the bottom center of the transom. directly under where the engine mount is. just doesn't look like there is enough room there to mount it.

as far as mounting on the console, there is a swivel mount that you can buy that is fully adjustable.

Go to this group.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sideimaging

Find the photo alblum and go through the pics to find your boat. It will be there. If you join the group, please don't ask where to mount the transducer before going through the entire photo alblum. Please also use the search function before posting. As far as basic installation goes, it has been covered.

I would mount it just below the bottom bolt on the motor on the starboard side.

You don't want it to low and it needs to be below the water line (obviously).

Enjoy your new graph.

You'll need to join the group to access the pictures but it is well worth it. Secondly, read the directions in the manual. It gives a minimum distance from the motor the transducer needs to be mounted. Mounting it so close to the motor as recommended above will not provide satisfactory results. Also, you will need to mount it on the correct side of the transom depending on the prop rotation. I't's been over a year and I forget the specifics and can't put my hands on my owners manual at the moment.

There are many people mounting them just to the side of the motor on the jackplate. Some jackplates have enough room my 07 Detwiler did but my 2 Bob's haven't.

Here is a post where someone did on a fixed jackplate: http://basscatowners.yuku.com/reply/22524#reply-22524

Since you didn't have a jackplate I suggested the transom. My 08 was mounted to the transom directly under the jackplate, again you don't have that option.

There are a lot of options you just don't want it on the bottom step wher in the past we would traditional want them mounted.

Good luck.

I have mine mounted on the starboard side of my jackplate-Skeeter ZX. No problems as it actually sits down far enough to work but not too far down to be knocked off.
