Glad you did the right thing and the GW got them. I hope that the kids learn their lesson. There is no replacing the birds. I am pretty sure the state can fo after them for restitution as well. Might be a lot more than a few thousand in fines.

As far as the GW, I have never dealt with one that wasn't professional. I have never been on the wrong side of one, but everytime I have been checked by one they have always been nice and professional.

Great job. I hope everyone has a merry Christmas.

Like I was raised, I shot a sparrow at the tender age of four with a bb gun...almost had to eat it due to my Dad being so ticked off. They should pass a law you shoot it...you eat it and pay for it.

Great job, this is a whole different type of poacher...senseless killers not poachers. I often wondered how long it would take a game warden to get to a scene, fourty five minutes is a great response time.

You did your part and thank you for that. I would really like to know how this shakes out in the end. My fear is that they will - essentially - walk. I keep reading about poachers who get a slap on the wrist and a "please don't do this anymore". The game wardens do good work and the legal system drops the ball. Same situation with drunk drivers.

The even better news is that photoguy will prob get a cneck from tpw and or the feds. I had to turn some elk hunters when I was a guide in colorado due to an illegal kill (yearling cow for camp meat with 2 bulls already in camp). the FBI usually handles fed. poaching and they don't take kindly to killing a "ward of the fed. gov." (that's what all fed. protected wildlife is considered). All 6 of my hunters got a fine with the two responsible getting $10,000.00 ea. lost 6 weatherby custom rifles, lost all hunting privileges in co. for LIFETIME, and there was no pleading it down.
Court would have been auto jail time in the fed. condos. so I would think that when the gw turns this over to the feds. they will go visit the little morons. Don't know how this one will work out but I got a check for $3,500.00 (and didn't know it was coming) just for doing my job and what I new was right. Again good work photoguy.

Well this story was an eye opener. I am glad those boys are gonna get what is coming to them. You cannot just do what they did, and suffer no consequences. To kill for fun like that, and protected birds to boot...that just takes the cake. I am thrilled they got caught. Maybe word will get around that if you play, you pay...and what a price it will be. I hope that THEY must pay this fine, and not their parents, or grandparents. That should be a condition the judge sets. If they have no job, they can clean trash off the highways, or dig ditches...whatever that area needs. If they do not pay, they should be put in jail. I cannot believe that people just think that is okay to do like they did...I am so glad you caught them, and turned them in. Excellent work my friend!!!
